Thanks for sharing your experience! Stewart is fun to watch, but ever since Phoenix, he seems really subdued to me... Holly has a site set up for us to put photos on! M In a message dated 7/3/07 9:53:49 PM, patm@rollanet.org writes:
Hey all,
It's been nearly a day since the Polce concert ended and I'm still buzzing about it.
Overall the performance was fantastic. I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews have been mixed on here and the media links. The seats for us were eighth row just to Stewart's right - pretty much between him & Sting. The audience around me on the floor and in the stands all around me stood for the entire performance. I don't know if it was sold-out but must have been nearly so.
Various tidbits
My girlfriend & I walked around the arena a few times before the doors opened. We passed a group of people cutting through a parking garage attached to the arena. Turns out it was Fiction Plane but since we hadn't had any previous exposure to them, we were both totally oblivious.
Andy used his strat for the first third of the show, the tele for the middle third and the strat again for the final third.
Wrapped around your Finger worked really well. Sting didn't sing the "things they would not teach me in college" line but the audience sure did. There was also cheering in the pauses right before the chorus.
Stewart was a real highlight in the show. He used his percussion set-up more than I was expecting. One funny thing was he went from the percussion set to the drumset during King of Pain. He picked up too many drumsticks and played the second verse with two drumsticks in his right hand before getting rid of one of them. During the concert pieces of wood were flying left and right from his sticks.
The whole concert went by in a blur. It was hard to absorb everything. I left the concert feeling elated but also sad that it was over and also at the decades past when the Police could have been a vital rock group.
My girlfriend took 260 pictures but most of them turned out blurry from longer exposures in the dark. We're going to try to clean them up. Hopefully I'll find a place to post them for anyone interested.
Thanks for reading,
Pat
