Vic's reply was something to the effect of, "Yeah, and you're no Lead Guitarist!" as Sting had recently attempted (and failed) to play lead on his Nothing Like the Sun sessions. I saw Andy during the XYZ tour at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, he was second on the bill to Siouxsie and The Banshees (who were very boring, not that the crowd seemed to notice). The opening act was Julian Cope (who stole the show). Andy's set was fun, it was great to hear those Police songs live... even with his questionable singing. Also the sight of a couple hundred drunken frat boys dancing to Police tunes surrounded by Siouxsie's stunned mascara-wearing fans... well, I'll never forget it. I never understood why there was no drummer on the XYZ album. There were a few really good songs on that album. A live drummer would have really breathed some life into that record... Speaking of Andy... a couple years ago there was news about a supergroup with Andy and Jack Bruce. I think they even recorded an album of material. Anybody know what became of that? I've been looking for one for ages. Let me know if you're interested and I can send my list. (Or if you know any good stories, please post. I remember reading some Vic Gabraini article at the time that described Sting backstage at Andy's debut concert, watching him, and saying something about how Andy just wasn't a lead singer. True, granted, but mean...) Christopher __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
