Last night, I was listening to 104.1 in Boston and the DJ had just played "Roxanne." After playing the song, he went on at length about how wonderful the Hall of Fame ceremony was, how the Police reminded the world how good they were, how cool it was that they mentioned a Boston DJ in their speach, etc. etc. etc. One thing that he mentioned that I'd never heard before (after 8 years on this list!) was that while Sting deserves the writing credits for Roxanne, Andy told Sting where to put the bass notes to make it more "reggae." When Sting first presented it, it was more of a straight ahead rock song. According to the DJ, this has always been a bone of contention between Andy and Sting - Andy continues to speak of his contribution and Sting has never acknowledged Andy's help on the song. So, is this true? Or, at the very least, has someone heard this story before? Is it some bizarre Police Urban Legend? Thanks, Julliette
