One of them (Stewart?) has stated in an
interview that “Spirits” is one of the harder songs to play. I
guess they figured that it was easier to drop it than to attempt it night after
night. I know the guitar and bass parts myself and while they
aren’t difficult on their own, in a band dynamic they can be a bit
tricky. “Spirits” in particular has each of them going in
slightly different directions (yet arriving at the same destination at the same
time). If you have the Synchronicity tour rehearsals, you might recall
that “Spirits” was giving them trouble even then.
Mitch
