Yeah, that's intentional.
 
See, it's a bit like a doomsday device hidden in all of The Police stuff you've collected.  When they reunited, a signal was broadcast that began to deteriorate all the old memorabilia. Records will be breaking, tracks will disappear, and shirts will just start falling off people at concerts!
 
It's all part of their scheme to get you to buy all the new old stuff they're releasing.
