Hi everybody!
It's been quite some time since I went to the concert, but I have waited to post until I had my pictures online... I went to The Police concert in Aarhus, Denmark, the 1st of September, but the day before I actually had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Andys photo exhibition. I had won passes to the opening through a contest on Danish radio, and apart from seeing the many great photos, I also saw Andy :-) He arrived in a huge Mercedes, coming from a hotel in Copenhagen where all three were staying before next days concert. I actually had put the new Police greatest hits cd in a addressed & stamped envelope, wanting to ask Andy to sign it along with the two other guys and put it in a mailbox. But when I saw how tired he looked after the two shows in Stockholm the days before and how he snapped a bit at some reporters asking him too obvious questions, I chickened out... But I did ask him for his autograph and when I told him that I looked forward to the concert, which I had been waiting for for the last 15 years his face lit up in a smile :-)
The concert the day after was very good. I had a ticket to the Inner Circle-section (all the way up front) and made it to the second row of people, so I could not complain! I had heard some of the bootlegs from the previous shows and kind of knew what to expect, but I think all three performed very well. The bass sound at the second row, however, was VERY loud, completely drowning anything else when Sting or Stewart played the more intense parts of the songs. There had been a lot of talk the Danish media about the concert not selling out, but you could not tell by eye, that 14.000 of the 52.000 tickets were not sold. Generally the audience probably were not as enthusiastic as they could have been - we probably are'nt that many die-hard Police fans in Denmark, and the fact that the concert was held on a chilly, windy field outside Aarhus maybe also has influenced it... But us up front were very pleased and I am happy to having experienced The Police play! Furthermore it was nice to say hello to Giovanni, who has also attending the concert - good to actually having met a person on the list :-)
This must be enough for now - I need to go back to my lab and get some work done, but have a look at my photos at http://kollegienet.dk/~torn-kek/thepolice/thepolice.html They are of course not as good as the ones posted a couple of days ago, but with me being among the audience and with a quite cheap "pocket-size" camera, I think they are quite good (especially the one with Sting and Andy having a laugh over something :-)
Regards
Kasper @ Denmark
