First of all I'm glad to see that the list is still alive and kicking! I too hope that this year all our Police related desires will be fulfilled! Let's cross fingers!
Thanks to Giovanni for all his precious infos… I bet the "reliable source" must be Mr. Summers himself… ;-)))
Giovanni You're always THE BEST!
I'm also into guitars and even more basses, Fender ones among others. Apparently Eric Clapton sold this particular Tele to Andy or exchanged it for a Gibson (see the following link http://web.tiscali.it/andatta/fenderpage.htm but I don't know if the source is accurate, for example it mentions Vic Gabriani while the real name would be Vic Garbarini).
Clapton himself used to combine various Fender guitar parts, especially from Stratos (see this OFFICIAL site about Blackie http://www.fender.com/blackie/blackie_home.html) So Andy guitar was already modified when he got it from Eric (for example the preamp sticked on the back was already present). At these times Fender wasn't into Custom Shop or Vintage replicas so You had to do it all by yourself. Another example would be John Entwistle from Who and his Fender Precision "Frankenbass" but I degress…
I bet that Tele or not Andy will sound "right" if or when a "real" reunion will take place. Don't take the HOF performance into account. People that have followed him during the years of his solo production, especially live, can tell this. Think of it: it took two guitarists (one being Dominic Miller nonetheless) to fill Andy space during "Broken Music Tour". Enough said.
YO!

Andy sounded quite good but what I didn't get was why he didn't use his signature beat up >Telecaster for the soundcheck or the show.
That guitar doesn't exist anymore, or at least Andy should build it up again, as he open it up and used some parts of it for other guitars...I guess the way it was won't come back to his usual status....

Ps.: during Sacred Love tour Sting rehearsed TEA IN THE SAHARA exactly in the same way he did with The Police.
