I just thought of another similarity..  even the song follows the (pre-Ten Summoner's Tales) Sting format for love songs.  Sting talked about how he could never write a "plain" love song or something, they always had to have a love triangle or some sort of unrequited love angle.  Seriously, if FP's other songs try rhyming brainiac words like "Mephistophiles" or "Scylla and Charybdes", I'll have no choice but to assume it's an intentional thing.

Not that that's bad - it's almost like having new Police music after 20+ years, right?

I have to start by saying that I hadn't heard FP prior to the Tonight Show appearance, and I did like the song.  So I jumped on over to their Myspace page, and see a lot of awesome bands that have influenced them (with the glaring exception of The Police).

In their performance though, I see a 3-piece band with a lead singer who also plays bass (hmm), a lead guitarist playing a beat-up old Telecaster (hmm, again), and the nod to early Police with the jump at the end.  Joe playing bass is understandable, but I was really surprised at all of the other similarities.  Intentional or subliminal??
