How about this announcement of the last show. i would think that would be a big big show and event..and doing at the smallish Jones beach theater is quite interesting. Its outdoor and therefore could be rained on. I have seen Sting there a number of times and it seems like an odd choice as its not as big as say MSG nor is it all that intimate either. It just struck me as rather unispiring choice. However it is in the NY area so I'll have to think about that one and at least I like that part.... DavidL

It's just Point Of View: Some of us always want more, are never satisfied with what is offered/given, and/or will find something "wrong". Some of us are thankful for what is offered and relish in the moment and the afterglow of what happened. Most of us are somewhere in the middle. Whatever your POV, facts are facts: no new album, tour is ending, and it's not likely you will ever see the Police tour again after the first week of August. See them once, see them 50 times, it's a passing fancy that will only be tangible with personal photos, tour books, CDs and DVDs, along with ticket stubs, t-shirts, and hotel bills. I do see this as one of those "Stew and Andy are into something/Sting isn't so it gets vetoed" things. As I recall, Andy was the one who mentioned their having jammed on new songs, which we were even told would be on the setlist. And the new album thing... was that kicked around by Stew, Andy or both? It's frustrating seeing that shot down... I mean, what harm would it have done to jam a bit with a new song or two onstage? It's great that Sting's managed to relax a bit with the control freak thing, but I wonder a bit when he says "why change a setlist, it's not broken, so..." - it seems at odds with his role as a musical experimenter, someone who's always happy to fiddle with individual songs and even re-use bits of them in creative ways. We don't necessarily change things only because they're broken - we change things to revitalise them and have new experiences. :/ Ang

I think the fan club price is a rip-off in the sense that every commercial operation that thinks it can get away with doing so charges not what something's worth, but what they think the demographic group the thing is aimed at will pay for it. And from what I can make out, Police fans are mainly around their late 30s/early 40s and have got to the stage of being financially comfortable or at least secure, with the disposable income to fork out for a concert or three. Which kind of sucks if any of that doesn't apply to you, but then I'm just glad I didn't repeat my two-time mistake of paying for the Sting fan club when it first changed from the old Outlandos model. re: Europe, I see that June 22nd is still empty; indeed it's in the middle of a six-day gap. Which could mean a vocal rest period, or could mean more dates to be scheduled in the places that promoters can't really be arsed about, like Belfast. I'm still holding out hopes that the rumours I've heard make sense, and actually considering going. I can maybe get a lift with someone, and my (non-fan) boyfriend has gallantly told me he doesn't need to come, which saves me the cost of one ticket, making another concert suddenly not Rampant Extravagance but merely Unusually Large Expenditure On One Thing, which I can cover by selling some old CDs (need to de-clutter anyway). Because I'd be mad at myself forever if I missed the one time that they played in my town. Now, confirm the concert already!! Angeline PS Elvis Costello? I also do not think I will renew: can't afford it. but I will say I met some great people via the boards there, and I certainly don't regret that. I am sure, however, I will regret renewing at $100 when in all likelyhood it will be a moot point in a few months. SoCalJen THINK BLUE!
