Hello all,
The documentary repeats at 12 AM -- if you didn't see it, stay up. Set your
VCR's. Having only limited modem access, I never heard the new remixes before
this evening, and I have to say that I will, in all likelihood, buy some
version of this CD when it becomes available.
Two things stood out: first, rather than cheapening the moment, I think the
decision to go ahead with the concert was the right decision, especially
after seeing the discussion they had about what to do and whether to do it or
not. They were all obviously affected, as the rest of the world was. I saw
more than one member of the band wiping away tears during the show. Second,
some of the new arrangements were fantastic. Anyone who has read my posts
knows that "When We Dance" is my #1 favorite song. When Chris Botti said that
he was driving when he first heard it and had to pull over and just
listen... well, let me just say that that is exactly what I did when I first
heard that song. And the "medley" with DSSCTM is brilliant.
So, IMHO, see it, tape it, and enjoy it. It was more than a concert -- it was
truly a slice of life, and I recommend it highly.
And since we are all still suffering the aftereffects of September 11, let me
leave you with some words of comfort from a poet named Dawn of Santa Fe that
I heard before Thanksgiving:
When you have come to the edge of all the light you know
and are about to step off the cliff into the unknown,
Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
there will be something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught to fly.
Peace,
Holly
