Did i hear someone correctly....the Police are going to perform together??!?!?!?! Have my ears (eyes actually) deceived me? Jane I was lurking so long i was going "treeish". Who knows where that came from????? Any guesses?

Teri, I agree whole-heartedly! Some people just dont get it! I met this bass player who met Sting in '85. He just blew off the meeting to me by saying "I told Sting that I played some Police songs in my sets and he said "I'm flattered"". Like it was no big deal. I would give a kidney for just such a chance. I actually had a teacher who went to school with Sting. He said that he (my teacher) was actually a year younger then Sting and that his older brother was Stings school chum. I think i was born two decades too late and on the wrong side of the ocean. Life isnt fair. Jane

As it was they had to escort me when I saw Sting the first time during the DOTBT tour, and I was in highschool. :( I've run into so many people who saw them live. One guy I use to work with saw them during the Zenyatta days at this open concert and was like "Yeah, they were okay. I don't remember that much about it." I could have strangled him. Geez. Entertainment - AP Police to Reunite for Hall Induction 6 minutes ago The Police may get together again ? at least for one night, and possibly two. Former Police drummer Stewart Copeland (news) told reporters Friday in Milan that the band would play March 10 in New York when it is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the ANSA news agency said. The Police, which split up in 1985 after making such hits as "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," have also been asked to perform at a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of freedom for South Africa's Nelson Mandela, ANSA said. There's just one hitch, involving one member of Police. "Sting still hasn't said yes," ANSA quoted Copeland as saying, referring to the Mandela concert only. "In fact, me and (guitarist) Andy Summers (news) were thinking of asking Bono to sing with us," he said, referring to U2's lead singer. The concert is called "Sending Out an S.O.S" ? lyrics from the Police hit "Message in a Bottle," which the band has been asked to perform, ANSA said. Three British exports of rock's "new wave" of the 1970s ? The Police, The Clash and Elvis Costello (news) and the Attractions ? will join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10 along with the Righteous Brothers and Australian hard rockers AC/DC.

Oh no Teri! That IS an unforgivable act by a parent! So was that your only shot at seeing them, or did you see them later? I was the first "overprotected" child and my parents were oh so strict. I think they knew better than to keep me from those Police concerts, as all hell would have broken loose. I have to give them credit for letting me do that ... too young to drive, but we tagged along with my friends' older brothers. Guess I really should thank those guys all these years later since my life wouldn't have been the same without them! I was fortunate enough to see one or two Ghost shows and three Synchronically shows. If anything, all this talk of March 10 is flooding my mind with nothing but great memories! I can still feel the pulse of the beat with them opening with Don't Stand So Close to Me (if I remember correctly). Whew, I'm getting all flushed! Rockers Police to briefly reunite MILAN (Reuters) - Former British rock band Police, whose hits included "Roxanne" and "Message in a Bottle", will get together for a one-show reunion in New York next year, ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland says. "I am a dinosaur of rock," Copeland told a news conference in Milan where he was performing with his band Stewart Copeland's Orchestralli. "We're going to get together again after nearly 20 years." Copeland, now 50, said Police had agreed to play three songs at a ceremony in New York in March to mark the band's induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Australia's heavy-metal rockers AC/DC and fellow British groups Elvis Costello and the Attractions and The Clash. Copeland said Police had also been invited to perform at a concert organised by former South African president Nelson Mandela but the band's former lead singer Sting had not yet said whether he would agree. That stinks! If I had $10,000+ I would *definitely* donate it, and hawk what I could to buy the tickets. I remember buying the first Police album the year after it came out. I was eleven. I remember having the opportunity to actually see the guys and in my home town in 1983--ONLY to be dragged off to another state to a family reunion instead. I've NEVER forgiven my father's family. It's been 22 years since I've gotten together with them, as long as The Police have been apart. I thought I was over being mad, but not now. I'm happy for those who can go--but I'm still jealous. It's so unfair that so many of the real fans are left out of this very special time. I just had to say it, I'm really bummed. I'll make a prediction: I suspect that Sting, Stew and Andy will like playing together again so much that there will be other dates after the induction. The fact that they're playing only three songs will wet their appetite enough that they will want to play more. Sting is actually looking forward to this -- he's never admitted to that before. And as Stewart said, it would be great if they got together a bit for the sheer fun of it. One can only wish... Fred
