hello all great show in montreal last night! and you folks living in montreal are wonderful, everyone i encountered was so nice, level headed, bright and healthy, so different from 45 miles south, strange. it was like going back in time before everyone in america was an obese, thug-headed, incurious backwards baseball cap wearing neanderthal. well not everyone, but it seems the majority these days. anyway, just lots of good, smart, healthy, considerate and conscientious people in montreal. some quick observations of the show: *was andy* in a clowning mood last night or what? i was lucky to capture some video of his crazy gyrations, good stuff. sting was really hitting some of his tougher vocal phrases. and interplay between andy and sting (both physical and sonic) was something i had hoped they would be able to generate with such sincerity as the tour rolls on and it was accomplished. *stewart's gong* had great effect on the building, quite a powerful vibration - but perhaps it was merely my proximity (in section 109 behind andy) that lent to the power of his gong. was it well heard and felt for those of you in 420 or some other stretch of centre bell? *invisible sun* struck me like it never has, i now hold it in much higher regard after last night's rendition. *the stage setup *and police rigging in general was such elegant utility, and i very much appreciated the thought put into making this aspect efficient and non intrusive to audience and band connection. *three songs on the telecaster* is not enough! but what a great experience it was to hear once again. *stewart needs* should receive more feature time on the specialized kit, but hearing him go about his way on the kit during 'wrapped' and 'king of pain' was a chilling an emotional high. again thanks to all the good people in montreal and the helpful folks on this list. this concert was a delightful experience and hopefully everyone who wants to, gets the opportunity to experience the police and experience such positive synchronicitous events. todd

clarify police resale value

I agree with what was said earlier..not trying to make money (is anyone at this point?) just trying to sell off tickets and its a tough going if you want to get close to face. You just have to check ebay to see that this is whats going on. Tickets for face value are even having a having a tough time being sold and you see ebay listing not going at or even some times less than face value. Few bidders on ebay or stubhub and look how many listings there are. Its hard to believe how many tickets are for sale - check stubhub for MSG 8/1 and your choices are unbelievable. You know what they say about supply and demand. Given that, yes I love the Police, loved the 2 shows I saw and will see 2 more next week etc. but there is a trend here that the market is soft for these tixs. David L

World Gone Strange

I haven't seen much time given to Andy's solo stuff lately, so this: It's been a brain-rattling 24 hours. For whatever reason, I really needed to hear Andy's "World Gone Strange". I put the disc in the drive. Nothing. The PC wouldn't recognize anything in the drive. After fiddling around for ten minutes, suddenly the drive just starts acting as if nothing happened. Like a cat that tears up the drapes while you're away at work, then looks up at you quizzically as if to say,"This strange man came in while you were gone, and all he did was shred the drapes. Aren't I adorable?" A world gone strange, make no mistake about it. Anyway, World Gone Strange may be clothed in synthesizers and perhaps a touch dated, but it still feels nice to listen to. This is the only Andy CD I own. Any other suggestions? Last Dance of Mister X perhaps? Have a great one, everybody! David[MiaS]

Hey guys! I posted some pix from the show on facebook, photos 31 43 are of the Police and the rest are of me and my friends in Toronto, plus 2 guys who came from Ottawa to see the show as well as my friend Greg who is a professional musician... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=38636&l=205f7&id=715615057 It was great to see the Police and be that close! The highlight for me was definitely ELTSDIM, it¹s my favorite song anyway, and they just did it as close to the original as any song they did... my friend Greg was a little more disappointed than I was that several songs were in a lower key and that Sting did not put more energy into them... but I¹ve seen Sting a bunch of times and from reading the list, I knew better what to expect so I wasn¹t terribly disappointed! With that being said, I thought World Running Down was particularly lacking in energy... Roxanne was slightly less ³Stingified² so I thought that was great, and Can¹t Stand Losing You was awesome, and King of Pain also was wonderful... So Lonely is my 2nd favorite song and it was sort of ruined by how Sting sang the chorus... and we all thought Next To You was a very strange choice for last encore, but overall, an amazing experience! tixs resale value not good/soft

What does that tell you in that these Police tickets which when I bought them I thought well if I wind up not being able to go I surely could easily sell them for a little extra. Well that is looking difficult these days. My guess is a few things...lots of dates meeting the demand, high starting point of the ticket prices and not a great buzz for the shows (kicked off by stew's unfortunate blog being used in press.) I cant tell you how many people I meet at parties etc and I mention the police concerts and they mention they heard the shows were so-so or not very good. Most have no idea where they hear or read it either...its weird as I havent heard that kind of buzz kill for many other bands before. The live earth performance which some saw didnt help the buzz either. David L.

I am somewhat fortunate not to have any Police shows to reference this to as this was my first. I agree with what was said earlier in the respect that I was pretty much spellbound just watching them jam and play together. That's all I wanted to see and as totally biased as I am, the show I saw was truly great and that's good enough for me!!! My 2 cents... my biggest complaint when I saw Sting 2 shows ago was OVERPRODUCTION. Whatever circle of Hell Kipper is in now, I would gladly go there and give him a sweater!!! I went to this concert to hear the 3 members of the Police sing and play; that's what I paid for, and that's what I got. I knew I would only have one chance to see them, and a circus onstage while they performed would have ruined it for me. Almost a week later, I am still thinking about the show at least once a day. Must have made an impression, regardless of what the critics say. And speaking of critics, it's a shame that there is (apparently!) so much bad press about what is absolutely a wonderful concert!
