I actually woke up just in time to hear them on Jimmy Kimmel -- for some reason everything was pushed back an hour or so -- and it was interesting to say the least! Joe sometimes looks and sounds EXACTLY like Sting. He did the jump thing at the end of their song, but it was a pale imitation at best. The song wasn't bad, but not memorable either. Now that I've seen them, I'm going to pay more attention to everyone's comments about them as the opening act for the Police, because now I'll know what everyone's talking about! Holly

And here's my review for the Sunday's concert. Still wishing I was in Oakland today, Koko PS Rich (Ryder), I never got the chance to thank you for your help and suggestions for the Boston pre-sales. My apologies. Thank you. Tonight's concert in Denver was as amazing and exciting as Saturday's. Very energetic show, it really felt like the band even gave more than what I thought was possible. The setlist was the same except they came out a fourth time to close with "Next To You" where on Saturday they played "Every Breath You Take" and "Next To You" back to back. After "Synchronicity II", Sting didn't do his usual funny way of introduction by saying, "Stewart, this is Andy" and then turning to Stewart and saying, "Andy, this is Stewart". Instead it was, "The legendary Andy Summers" and "Equally legendary Stewart Copeland". He did repeat Saturday's joke after "Don't Stand So Close To Me", though, about Denver being the Mile High city where the men have all the white cells and the women, the red! "Driven To Tears" just knocked me out with its energy. Stewart's powerful drumming on Sting's arresting bass was worth the admission alone. Andy couldn't repeat the blistering solo he did on Saturday but it was still great and he brought it home alright. Stewart ripped his snare drum's skin during "Walking On the Moon" and told Sting to wait up till they changed his snare. Sting asked Stewart if a pig had to die every time he got a new skin for his snare. Both Stewart and Sting counted the 1, 2, 3, 4 in synch before a spotless take of "Truth Hits Everybody". "The Bed's Too Big Without You" was wonderful. This might be a personal thing but how I wish Sting performed this song the way he does on the mono version, specially the part where he sings "Everyday just the same" in that high register. I've always preferred this over the standard "Reggatta de Blanc" version. It's still so nice that they end the song the way the mono version ends. When it comes to high register, the same could be said about "De Do Do Do" where he sings the build-up to chorus "When their eloquence escapes me, their logic ties me up and rapes me" lines an octave lower than the original recording. Of course this is understandable since that could get his vocal chords shot, a crucial thing he will be needing for another eight songs or so! He didn't do the "Bonanza" bit this time before "Can't Stand Losing You" but he did talk about "Rawhide" and how he used to watch it on Wednesdays in the old days! Out of the three Vancouver and these two Denver concerts I saw, I had the best seats for this one, 2nd row, section AAA, seat 1. Only in my wildest dreams I imagined seeing The Police this close. This has happened with me for Sting more than a few times but with The Police, I mean to see them this close, I consider it a true miracle. It only took a quarter century to happen to me. The wait was well worth it! Right after the band left the stage, I approached the rail and waited for Danny Quatrochi to come back out after taking Sting's bass inside. I kindly asked him if I could have Sting's setlist and I felt like a four year old boy handed the best ice cream out of the truck when he reached out and handed it to me (I will attach a scan of it here. Note the chord changes on "Don't Stand", "Truth Hits Everybody" and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic"). For all those who haven't seen this tour yet, yes, you too will soon be walking on the moon! Your pockets being empty, will make you even lighter and that'll make it all the easier to walk, believe me, so it's OK! There's always plenty of work to make money again! Hello fellow Police fans, This was my review of Saturday's concert here in Denver. I feel bad that I am posting it this late. You could read it when you get the chance. Doesn't everybody on the list wish he/she was in Oakland today? McAfee Coliseum to be exact! Koko I got back from the first Denver concert a few hours ago. I am still high up in the clouds from all the excitement. This is still that impossible dream for me as you could imagine. I am still coming to terms with the Vancouver shows and here I am with the Denver show slowly sinking in the depths of my memory well where it will stay forever. I am so grateful I ended up with a pretty good seat tonight, right side from the floor but first row, section 128, very close to the stage. I had better seats at the Wednesday show in Vancouver but there were these two giants standing in front of me so the view was often blocked. There was so much energy throughout. Sting, Andy and Stewart were in great shape, giddy to be playing song after song, the canon of hits! Lots of eye contact with each other which was really special to witness. They were considerate in giving space to each other with their playing. This goes specially for Stewart, he was so in tune of how Sting was playing and singing. Each and every one was able to shine in the spotlight. In some ways this concert reminded me of Monday's show in Vancouver except you feel they have gelled by now and Andy has improved in leaps and bounds! His solos were direct and sharp and boy that itself made the night for me; he totally ripped through "Driven To Tears" and "So Lonely". I just couldn't believe my eyes and ears. The former were blurry with tears squirting out from all the joy and excitement. Just two weeks ago, his chords were great but the tone of his guitar was so out of whack and the solos were aimless. He did go totally off rhythm during the beginning of "Roxanne"' but was back on track by the second verse. Sting was amazing vocally and on bass. Seemed like he was having as much fun as Stewart this time around! At one point Andy was a bit annoyed with his guitar sound and called Dennis for help. Sting, noticing this, asked Andy to join him on "Bonanza" since they were in Denver! Andy didn't even bother turning to Sting's side let alone react to what he said but Sting started with the riff and improvised on the word "Rawhide" a few times all the while Stewart keeping a steady beat to it. This gave the chance for Andy to be back on board and start with "Can't Stand Losing You" and the crowd went nuts! "Don't Stand So Close To Me" was in a higher key and a bit faster in the tempo than the ones performed in Vancouver. Same with "Truth Hits Everybody". This of course made me happy since I thought they both needed much more oomph than the way they were introduced during the start of the tour. No "Murder By Numbers" which was a drag. It would be nice if they bring it back to the set but not before some revisions first. Stewart should play the way he does on the studio recording and Andy should use the pick instead of the soft jazzy strumming. Also with gusto! For the fourth time in a row, "Can't Stand Losing You" with the "Reggatta De Blanc" improvisation was my favorite in the set. "Synchronicity II" gave me the most chills, Andy's solo during "Driven To Tears" and specially "So Lonely" were real treats. Imagine the picture of Sting right next to Andy thumping on the riff while Andy ripping it like it's 1980. Truly magic... And there were plenty of it all through the night. During "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"'s chorus the first time around, Sting added a couple of more "on and on" at the end of "now I know my love for her goes on" line, much like the way he does on his 1976 demo, and that too got me teary eyed. I can't wait for tomorrow's concert. I know I will want even more to see each and every date on this tour. I am already imagining myself with a fancy RV and a fat bank account driving from state to state and seeing the shows. At the moment, my mind is already calculating the distance from here to Phoenix, Dallas, Houston and Vegas... And how I would love to do those double doses of Montreal, Toronto and Boston during the last week of July... But I have to be realistic and accept the fact that this is not possible. But there's also those additional Atlantic City, Boston and Toronto shows in November after they return from Europe... And wouldn't Europe be grand? You betcha! Time to wake up, or sleep! Hi everyone, Since I won't get to see them till the end of JULY, I've been lurking about, enjoying all the posts. Are we still posting pics of ourselves at the concerts? Please keep it up! We'll love looking back at it someday. To the lister who wanted suggestions for his CD mix: now you have to include Dr John's "Cover of (the) Rolling Stone!" I get a free subscription to Rolling Stone with my Rock Hall membership -- what a great perk THAT turned out to be! Have fun at Bonnaroo -- that looks like an incredible event!
