I hadn't had much luck doing that though. There weren't too many people downloading it, so it didn't seem like I ever got anywhere. Might have to give it another go at some point. Once I get all my boots in order. They do have a great selection of Police stuff though... I was amazed at how much there is available! Expectations

Wow. Elated. Exhausted. The extremes I'm sure--I'm sure because I heard it first-hand from most of you!--that we all went through. I want to start by re-quoting myself before this all was first Officially Announced re: the Police reuniting: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "And I sit here now still reeling from the possibility, no matter how implausible or insane, of my favorite band of all time that I never saw in person ...getting together once again if only for a brief moment in a world-wide tour... although I too have fantasized about the following, still: I do not care if they suck. I do not care what songs they play. I do not care if every song sounds completely different from what I've been listening to for 30 years. I will be in the presence of a historical moment, of an artistic "big bang", and I will be enthralled, enamored, and enthusiastic with every strum, pick, strike, note, scream. It will be a moment I will never, ever forget." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The question is: how does this hold up? They did not suck. Everything they played I wanted to hear. Just about everything was different and yet--memories often tend to layer over new experiences--the same. I will never, ever forget this weekend. It was historical, it was a helluvan explosion, the kind that only gods could pull off. I respect everyone's opinion; I sometimes let them even influence my own. I've heard and read the gamut on this. I will write mine later (after my back & feet recover from all the walking & standing!). Consider this until then: There were three gods on that stage. Were they perfect? (better question, were they back then?!) Hell no, and that's what I liked: the boys that we've deified for the last +25 yrs showed that they are human (who can forget them taking an ending again fanclub night--Bruce!!--and then the lovely out-of-tune ee-yo-yo's for the Walking on the Moon intro?!), three men who have already lived most of their lives--albeit in different degrees as rockstars--showed they can still fckn kick ass. For those of us over 40, we know the difference 25 years can make. It's something we cannot ignore when we think about how it will influence everything about the boys and tour: the pace and length of the show, of each song, how many dates they'll play in a town and how spaced out the dates are... it just does, along with other mitigating factors, but age cannot be dismissed. Seems like the boys are embracing it just fine. And I love it! I'll excuse some slower versions of some songs as long as they keep touring. I'm not going to guess what's in their heads when they're up there, or when they planned this out. It Appears that they are not yet congealed, and I think things like harmonies and smiles will come when they are more comfortable with the whole tour thing again. Three gods came out on that stage those two nights I was privileged to see and hear them. They willingly showed us their human side and that alone was worth the price of the entire weekend. During the rehearsal show, I could hear their singing at times. However, there were a few songs where they stopped singing to focus on playing, and I could hear the digital backing track instead. During opening night, they "sang less", and I heard more of the digital voices. An interesting moment came during King Of Pain, where Stewart was SINGING HIS HEART OUT, but none of it was making its way out of the speakers. He was singing the, "that's my soul up there!" part, but it was nowhere to be found in the mix, at least from where I was sitting. ---- Personally, I don't really care if they sing backing. I'd rather that they both play really well. Dan

The Police were the best rehearsed I've seen. Stewart was an animal, and his energy was impressive. Sting was also doing a great job. While Andy was well rehearsed, I was not overly impressed with the new guitar licks he applied to some of the old songs. I think this is what confused the audience somewhat, not being used to the new versions. I think it was a good show already, and I think it will only get better over time. Boots and backstage

1. I think it was Bill who mentioned the plethora of online bootlegs that are available through the tour site. Could someone post the address for this? 2. Someone who shall remain anonymous told me that they were going to record Sunday night. How did that turn out? I've seen a couple of clips on YouTube. 3. Michelle, could I please get pictures from you? I'm still cranky I left my camera in the hotel room believing what was printed on the ticket. I see no new pictures on the Photobucket site (username: policetour, password: sting). 4. Did anyone go backstage? Am I correct in understanding that the band did not show up for the 200-person Water Aid event before? Also, I was surprised how few people have seen the BBC Hatfield video. I'm going to make a DVD out of it for anyone who wants it.

The backing tracks were apparent throughout but they definitely enhanced the music. Was there even a song that didn't use the backing tracks?
