You know, even if this round of rumors was flared up by a newspaper of questionable integrity, the fact that it's being picked up by so many international/mass media outlets will get back to the Police camp, and hopefully push them towards something more official. I mean, whether it's true or not, can anyone recall when a reunion rumor was treated like this outside of fan press or fan sites? Regardless, it's nice to see the activity here, after being a member for far too long than I care to remember. :) Also, the talks of a new box set: does anyone have a running list, or a link to a list of the stuff that was missing off the first box? I'm aware of most of it, but I'd like to see if there's anything "new" floating around. Plus I need to put together my fantasy box set! hello, gang this rumour even made it into my daily newspaper, read about it today! well this is much more than the annual rumours we had the last few years. can anybody out there who has more contacts to the band or the management than the average fan shed some light on this? I mean, Genesis has proven that you can quickly sell out huge stadiums without releasing any new material for more than 15 years!! should I prepare myself for a big party?? cheers from Germany Volker

Ok, you know what? I have consumed a few adult beverages this evening, have been watching "Every Breath You Take the DVD", listening to many a bootleg and playing the HELL out of my bass and I cannot contain myself any longer. I have not been a member of this mailing list for that long, but I just love the recent enthusiasm on this list since the mere mention of a possible Police reunion!! When I first joined a year or two ago, I got the distinct impression that it was just a lot of pure Sting fans, meaning, I heard nothing except stuff about Sting's solo career, etc.... Please forgive me for not having faith, for I have hung in there and now realize that most everybody IS a HUGE Police fan and I was simply assuming the worst about this list. My hat's off to you all. I only wish that I had joined this list longer ago than I did. I have always been first and foremost, a Police fan. There is no other group that has made music that makes me feel the way I do when I hear a Police song!! I hope to God that there is a reunion tour and that I might somehow have the honor of sharing that unbelievable experience with one of you fine people! And I thought I was happy when I got Stewart's movie for Christmas... holy crap! :-O This place has certainly got busy again, and for such interesting reasons... if only half of this were true, I would be on cloud nine for the rest of the year. However, overseas fans who may not know its reputation should bear in mind that the Daily Mail is stupendously reactionary and hysterical (the Mirror is similarly awful). Only a couple of years ago they went off some comment from Trudie's chauffer and printed a two-page hatchet job on Sting and how he's OMG! such a horrible person. I don't deny that he has his bad points like the rest of us, but the standard of journalism was evinced by their use of quotes from the early Police period, such as Stew's remark about Sting hating all of humanity except his family. Since they didn't qualify it by pointing out that a) it was from decades ago when the band ran on its internal tensions, and b) Sting himself had a tendency to furnish the media with dramatic soundbites and colourful lies at the time, it came across as a damning expose from a loyal bandmate. So, though remarks from fans and insiders here build a convincing case for why this more than any other time might be the year Sting softens on the subject, I'll believe a reunion is definite when we hear it from those same people, and not from the UK tabloids. That said... it's bloody exciting if it's true. I wouldn't get to go, but I bet they'd televise it, this being The Reunion They Said Would Never Happen. In terms of likely possibilities, I'm far more optimistic about the second box set someone mentioned. We know there's a fair amount of material in the vaults, and Stewart for one has expressed a desire to get it released. The anniversary year is the best opportunity they'll get to do it, and the advent of digital downloads, and the fact that downloads of old as well as new releases are now being counted in the UK singles chart (I presume this has happened/will happen in other territories) means that the music would get exposed to a whole new audience. I'm going to celebrate tomorrow by watching the movie. :D Angeline PS Happy New Year!

Damn. I'm sure the same thing will happen to me as last year.... Planning summer vacations the last week of Dec and then tour dates come out in Jan! I missed Sting's European tour by just a day on a couple of occasions, and I'll be damned if I'll let it happen if this is true! My head is about to burst. Now life is on hold until this is either proven a hoax or a miracle! Just the fact that there's this ghostly new website that's been on hold for several months has had me on pins and needles, and now this article. Someone put me out of my misery!
