Michelle, that might be something to do with Pandora.com, perhaps? It's a site which does a similar analysis based on music you like and then offers you more songs. I visited a while ago and it seemed an interesting idea... I put in "The Police" and it certainly picked some things which had some aspect of that recognisable sound. I read about a couple of guys that started a business of analyzing every song and then recommending other songs you would like based on the qualities of that song. I wish they would analyze all these bands that were big fans of the police and see what it is that connects them. I think it's fascinating, as many of the bands I do like, end up being fans of the police as well! Dune rereleased - extended version

Dune just got rereleased - the cover of the DVD has Sting on it. as a matter of fact almost all the ads I have seen for it show Sting prominently! I wonder it the rerelease will elicit a certain inquiry that I haven't seen in the newsgroup for YEARS. (having to do with a certain facial feature) ; ) Paula

Sting played acoustic "Close Your Eyes" in MusicCares Tribute to James Taylor Sting first saw Taylor as a 19-year-old in Newcastle, England, in 1971. "I'm a budding songwriter. At least I think I am," the former Police frontman recalled. "I want to see what all the fuss is about. Within four bars, I realize he's a virtuoso of the guitar. He starts to sing in this soft, rich baritone. I think, `I have to change my career. I'll become a bass player in a punk band.'"

Thanks for the great review maggie! How fortunate you were to have them both there and get to speak with them. Hope your photo turns out... I so depend on that lone photo to bring me back to the moment. Bad memory, I guess. Don't supposed he mentioned bringing that puppy to Austin did he? I can't wait to see it! Look forward to seeing the Andy footage as well. Just from photos and the old videos, I'd gather that he was the life of the group, the mediator, the one that tried to lighten up the tense moods that probably came around all too often. As far as Sting not coming out of it looking pretty, the truth hurts, doesn't it??? I went through quite a stage after they broke up where I just couldn't stand the guy thinking it was his attitude and ego that blew it (duh...) Of course, that was my "just a fan with no insider info" opinion. While I still bought the CD's and went to the shows, it took me quite a while to "respect" him as a person (his public persona, anyway). My husband was always baffled by my comment about "loving his music, just don't think I like him as a person". Of course I've come around, but still hold a little "you jerk" grudge against him!
