Re: where you there? I don't think so. Â are you the expert? It was boring!!!!! Mpal, As a matter of fact, I WAS there. I've never missed Sting in concert. For the Tampa show, I was in row nine. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but judging from the crowd reaction, those in attendance did not consider the show boring. And no, I'm not an expert, but I can honestly tell you that I wasn't bored. May you enjoy your next concert experience. If Sting returns to Tampa on the second leg of this tour, I guarantee I'll be back and ready to subject myself to more "boredom." Johnny Nitro

Ultrastar, not Dave & Wendy and Tina

I'd just like to add that my criticisms of the 'survey' should be pointed at Ultrastar, not Dave and Wendy & Tina... The Fan Club (or who we 'expect' the fan club to be) were only told of Ultrastar's questions the day before it went, and Tina raised the same concerns with them, but it went out anyway. Tina even complained that a "stupid question" like "what is your favourite album cover" didn't even list all the albums.... Unfortunately, the emails are all signed off as from Dave, Wendy and Tina, yet are all sent out by Ultrastar, leaving the fan club to polish their unfairly tarnished reputation. Still, it doesn't look good for next years subscriptions... Bring back the old Outlandos and get rid of the Ultrastar administration. J

What on earth is the point of the sting.com "survey" (newsletter subscribers should have received it). "We want to continue to bring you the kinds of promotions and offers that you enjoy so please let us know what you think". Well, I wasn't given an opportunity in the survey to say what I think, but I AM thinking "What the hell do these questions have to do with the kinds of promotions I'm being offered..." 1. Race. Being a white caucasian, will I get better or worse promotions than anyone who answers hispanic, or black? 2. Income. If I earn less than $25,000, will I get subsidies on tickets or albums, compared to someone who has an income of over $100,000??? 3. Gender. Will I get worse presale tickets because I don't have breasts (ok, I do have breasts, but they're not quite the same on a man). 4. Will I miss out on special offers or promotions because I don't visit "Womens issues" websites, or visit music downloading sites??? I'm really not thinking that the survey is for our benefit at all, but to give Ultrastar some demographic data about us... I really don't see how our answers are going to enhance the promotions we get. Anyone else have any ideas? J.

I don't rate this tour as highly as those in support of Dream of the Blue Turtles and Nothing Like the Sun, but I would NOT call it boring. Sting puts on a fabulous show, reworking the songs, connecting with the crowd, and displaying--a rarity in this era--actual musicianship. The focus of a Sting concert is the music. It's not a Britney-like lip-synch extravaganza where choreography masks musical ineptitude. Maybe times have changed and people expect Vegas-style glitz over art, but give me Sting and his virtuosity any day. And by the way, "Hole in My Life" rocked. Johnny Nitro

You know, that's too bad that you think that, but I guess you went to a crappy show. I just saw Sting in Denver last week, and it was not at all boring. His playing of 'Hole In My Life' blew me away, and all the Police lovers in the crowd were going nuts. 'Synchronicity II' was awesome as was starting the entire show off with 'Walking on the Moon'. 'Roxanne' as usual was cool, except when he brought out that numnuts, Sean Paul(which I'll never understand) and there was even a snipet of 'When the world is running down' in one of his songs off of 'Sacred Love'. I never got to see the Police while they were together, so this will have to do for me. As much as I would love to see the Police resurrected, it ain't gonna happen. The sad truth. However, Sting is still an amazing artist, versatile, more creative than many, many other artists out there today (especially the American Idol instant-stardom pop-star wannabes) and still puts on a helluva show. Sure, his musical tastes have changed and continue to change, but I don't think he will ever become boring. I think Ryko does this kind of thing. My brother in law has done some releases for his old band. DVD's as well. I think if they're confident in selling "x" amount of cd's/dvd's, they'll do it. The problem would be getting the rights to do it and distribute it. I'm all for it though! I think you can even go to rykodisc and request that they do certain projects. Do we barrage them with emails? Michelle in Texas.
