Maybe we shouldn't even count the Puff Daddy stuff as Sting's work, but still, we as a buying public were subjected to them. Some of the stuff on Still Be Love in the World, that album released exclusively by Target, is brutal, too. I wonder if Sting somehow didn't like the contract he signed--the exclusivity agreement or whatever--and just stuck it to Target by releasing garbage. That "We Work the Black Seam" B-side was, as all the marketing execs say, EXTREME. My favorite version of that song, though, is the one from Bring on the Night. I gotta agree. The Dream of the Blue Turtles clocks in at under 45 minutes and had only two B s-ides. I am more scared of how Send Your Love sounds than album length. I can picture the meeting with the execs, "Can you make Desert Rose II?" What happened to the cutting edge stuff of the 80's to mid 90's? As far as Moon 2003 - the vocals sound different to me than the DOTBT version. Maybe there will be a second, non-mixed version that comes out. All the other remakes - Like Black Seem '93 and Beds too Big '96 are pretty good. I wouldn't count this one out quite yet. Not based on 20 seconds of a remix. Yes, so is there more quality in such longevity? A few hours would be much better--though that's still longer than 45 minutes.... :D People apparently have too short of an attention span now to deal with too many songs, I guess. Not speaking of myself of course (since I listen to film scores--which take hours). Think of how long that 45 minutes is actually going to last. Two years--or how ever long the Send Your Love Tour will last. If he sings all of his new songs in a single performance, then there isn't much time to sing any of the oldy but goodies. Also, with all of his improvisations, he'd have to make his concerts last 3 hours. Not that I would mind. It's a thought. I agree that a remix of "Moon Over Bourbon Street" won't make me run out and buy the single. And I thought "End of the Game" would have been one of the better songs on Brand New Day had it been included on the album. Maybe "End of the Game" was held off the album so it could be that gem B-side for the "Brand New Day" single, a B-side that would significantly boost sales. Maybe Sting's marketing team will use the same ploy with the new album, releasing only ten songs so that one or two B-side gems can be withheld. Time will tell. Somehow, the three songs from the Hall of Fame induction will make Sting, Andy, and Stewart some money. I don't think the songs will be Sting B-sides. But they will be released. I can see the Hall of Fame songs on yet another Police greatest hits CD. How many Police greatest hits CDs are out now? Have we hit triple digits yet? Gosh, I hope P. It seems like 10 songs @ 45 minutes is now his standard. Of course, I too would like more songs, but when you think about it, The Soul Cages (arguably his best) was only 9 songs, and one of them was a musical piece. So in the end, I'd rather have quality over quantity. It would be nice though to get some quality B-sides like the Mercury Falling ones, rather than some commissioned remixes. But there will be at least one original B-side. Twelve tracks were mixed, and 10 of those appear on the album...

The lone "true" B-side from BND (End of the Game [full]) was by far a gem of a song. Just because you're massively successful doesn't mean that fans will settle for what you give them. Coldplay for example continues to include B-sides on their CD-single releases. I'm sure that they haven't rested on their laurels despite their current blooming success. Here's a novel idea: take the three songs from the Police reunion and put that on a CD-single. At least it's "sort of new".
