Hey everyone, I heard someone is taping directly to DVD of the performance on VH1 on sunday. Can i please have a copy of this, i really want to see the whole show badly and keep it forever intact. I can't get VH1 here in Montreal Canada and it sucks big time. So if any of you can help a tortured Police fan like me, i would really apreciate it. You guys are the best! Thanks alot! Hey everybody, 1. I have read every single message since the induction and let me say that i am jealous of those who got in and witnessed what could the last reincarnation of the best band this has seen in years. I feel really sad from the reports that most of you have written, because Sting didn't seem to be mixing well with Andy and Stewart during the whole thing and seemed a bit indifferent about playing with the other two. That's why i am sad and i think Stewart is too because he was excited about the whole thing but he knew deep down that this was is only chance to ever play again alongside Andy and Sting. Sting just probably wanted it to get it over with. So you guys have really seen the last show in my opinion. I thought that this show would sparkle probably another show or something else but i think after what happened this will never be the case anymore. 2. Why the Edge left during their performance, that remains a mistery. Unless he has an issue with one of the members. 3. This was a relly weird line up for certain stars to be there, causè most of them i think don't like Sting. I remember Elvis Costello did a bad remark about Sting's way of singing reggae or using it. Joe Strummer being very harsh towards Sting also. What a bad mix up. 4. Bono should have done a speech for them. But i guess Gwen did a great job at it. 5. Sting owes us all a Police farewell tour, he sucks for this only reason and i won't ever forgive him for that. I will always have this recurring nightmare where i see them going on stage but i never see the show and then i wake up and realize that this was almost to good to be true. 6. >From Billboard.com: Although he says the members of the Police felt "really terrific" playing together in public for the first time in 18 years on Monday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, drummer Stewart Copeland adds that "not one syllable" was discussed about a possible reunion or return to the studio. "I'm very keen on [reuniting]," Copeland tells Billboard.com. "But I absolutely understand why it's not going to happen and I'm down with that. It was really great to be the Police for 15 minutes. If you can think of some other award we can go get or some other good reason, give me a call, and I'll try it out!" As previously reported, the Police played "Roxanne," "Message in a Bottle," and "Every Breath You Take" at Monday's event at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, highlights from which will be broadcast Sunday (March 16) on VH1. Copeland says he, Sting, and Andy Summers have remained good friends in the years since the group's dissolution, and that they frequently visit each other at their respective homes. "The main thought going through my mind was not about the induction, but about playing with Andy and Sting," Copeland says. "The rehearsals, the playing of the songs ... my kids had never seen the Police, and a lot of my friends had never seen the Police. This was only a faint echo of the Police, but it was the Police. I really felt great to get up there and play that music with some semblance of what it was like. A glimpse, at least." As previously reported, the band's back catalog was recently remastered and reissued in Super-Audio CD format by A&M. And while Copeland admits he hasn't listened to the new editions, he reports that he has been fiddling around with vintage Police tracks in new and unusual ways. "I did a whole bunch of completely f***ed up lobotomies of Police tracks that I call 'derangements,'" he says. "I got all the multi-tracks from live performances, the studio vocals, and then got so carried away that I put the wrong studio vocals with the wrong live backing tracks." "I put the lyric for 'Can't Stand Losing You' over the riff for 'Regatta De Blanc.' I got 'Demolition Man' and screwed that all up. 'Tea in the Sahara.' For 'Don't Stand So Close To Me," I took the big vocal Sting did in the 1982 version and put it over the live track we did. It's all in a different key, which was interesting. I tried to do 'Message in a Bottle' but that thing is locked like a diamond! It will not come apart!" Copeland had designs on releasing these oddities as bonus tracks on the reissues, but for now they will remain tucked away in his "studio vault." As for Copeland's own music, he recently completed a score for the film "I Am David," the tale of a child who escapes from a concentration camp in Bulgaria during World War II. He has also been tapped to score the upcoming TV series "Dead Like Me," which he describes as "a very poignant comedy about life and death." Finally, he reports that Oysterhead, his collaboration with Phish's Trey Anastasio and Primus' Les Claypool, will aim to make a second album as soon as everyone's schedules coincide. "If not next summer, than maybe the summer after that," Copeland says. "We had so much fun doing it. It's something we're all looking forward getting back to." -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Great Stories!

Chris, Deb, Jer those are some great stories. Thanks for taking the time to share them. I used to live in southern Connecticut and would have loved to have met you guys at the big event but unfortunately I live too far away now. Anyone else with a story or experience from the weekend please share. I certainly hope that VH-1 airs the Police segment in its entirety. Brian

Police mention on Letterman; hmmm.....

Elvis Costello was the guest host on Letterman last night, and he told the following story about the HOF: He said that he saw Sting walking around the Waldorf with a cane, and he went up to him with concern and asked if he'd had a skateboarding accident or something. Sting replied that he was fine, and that it wasn't really a cane, it was a Victorian sword-stick. Costello said he asked Sting why he was carrying such a thing and that Sting replied, "If that Stewart Copeland comes near me, I'll run him through." He then went on to banter with Bandleader Paul Shaffer, asking how Paul keeps *his* band in line, and Paul said something about ruining their lives later, one at a time . While the whole bit was obviously tongue-in-cheek, one wonders why he brought it up. I am of the impression that we on the list know the extent of the infighting, but that the general public is not as aware of it as we are. Thanks to the poeple who made it in for the detailed reports! I enjoyed reading them. Holly
