Golden Globe is no joke ;-)

Jer, you must be kidding! "Least cynical person you will ever meet!"??? This is coming from someone who for the first half of the tour was CONVINCED that Danny Q pressed a "magic button" on his laptop to sustain Sting's tantric "...tomorrow we'll seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."! ;-) I jest, Jer! But seriously, Sting won the Golden globe fair and square. I don't see why people on this list would want to taint his award. People have complained about him not having written new material in a while, and when he finally does, he comes up with a sweet little waltz, wins a Golden Globe for it, and his fans call the whole thing a fix... I knew he would win the Golden Globe, the song had great potential. I would have had my doubts had he won for Funny Friend, but that neither grabbed the GG nor the Oscar. The GG's are not based on popularity or box office numbers. The fact that a lot of people aren't familiar with the song has no bearing on the quality of the song. Are people more familiar with the other nominated songs? I doubt so. I haven't heard Vanilla Sky because I boycott Tom Cruise, I missed Enya's song at the end of The Lord Of The Rings because of a bladder issue, and will probably not get around to see Kate & Leopold. But I assume most people who saw K&L also heard Until. I am thrilled for Sting's Golden Globe, as was he. He really didn't expect it, judging from his reaction (and his manager's) and his speech. I said a while ago that he'd win it, and I predict he'll be nominated for an Oscar, and WIN (if the Academy doesn't give Sir Paul his obligatory vote...) Finally, for those of you who still haven't heard Until, it's readily available on Morpheus, Kazaa, Audiogalaxy etc (the live Regis and Kelly version). I'll try to upload it tonight on my site. Ohhhh, I'm afraid "going against everything the guy has been about" has left the guy in the past couple of years. The guy is about money. I don't like his music any less for it, nor does it make me a "bad fan" but let's be real, the old, (I'm in it for the music and because I love it) Sting is gone. Funny, I just found a cartoon one of my family members sent me (phoenix or Orlando paper) from last year. Thought I'd share it with you. It's by Ward Sutton and is entitled Schlock 'n Roll: Remember back when... (it goes through panels with the selling out of songs) and then we get to the Sting panel: "and artists like Sting even debut new singles and have them appear in commercials at the same time." Under that a drawing of Sting with two speech balloons coming out---the first: "I wasn't ridiculously filthy rich enough so I had to whore myself out" the second: "I'm off to have tantric sex in my castle now. Ta-Ta!" That brings me to my new little endearment when people ask me what's new with him. "You mean my little media whore?" Of course, I say that with no malice intended. It's just the way it is. You guys have totally missed the point, I was talking about the awards in general, I am certainly not trying to put a damper on his winning, those who know me know that I am as Sting lover as they come... sheesh, anyways, these awards I believe are slightly odd. now's is the time to all laugh at me, at yourselves and at each other, lighten up...
