No need to shut up... tonight I'm trying out a real drummer, bass and guitar player to what has previously been an all electronic duo...
this sounds really cool - where are you playing? or is this just for fun?
synchronicity... and as a member of this orbital list for several years at least - I've always enjoyed posts where I learn about other similar artists.
well, the "similar" part is sorta dubious... but then again maybe not. since getting into "jam" music (starting with - you guessed it - phish) i have found many similarities between what some of these bands are doing and what house/dance/techno/whathaveyou is trying to accomplish. they are both based on deep grooves and tension/release. they both build to climaxes, and can drive crowds to frenzied states of intensity. and maybe most importantly, they are both about focussing on the energy of the crowd, and not necessarily about hitting all the right notes or being the most musically complicated or whatever. i'd be curious to hear if anyone else feels this way. it seems to me that the two "scenes" are getting closer and closer all the time - and not just because of a shared interest in illicit extracurricular activities (although that probably helps). -nub _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
