<< Here's my one requirement. I want to be tripped out. To me, it seems like the Orb and FSOL are in a camp all by themselves, in the sense that they both write very dense psychedelic epic music. Artists like sphongle and boards of canada are amazing in their own right, but don't have the grand vision of say, a stanley kubrick film or a pink floyd album. Is there anything out there that will satisfy my needs? >> some good recommendations have already been made, especially for warly Tangerine Dream. i personally like _Phaedra_, but _Alpha Centauri_ is a great one as well. here are a few other, off the wall suggestions for truly epic albums: - "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis - if you can't stand Jazz Fusion, then go back and hit Miles' "Sketches of Spain", which is more subtle, but amazing. - "The Psychedelic Sounds of the" 13th Floor Elevators. just re-released on vinyl out of Italy, and definitely worth hearing. - "F# A# Infinity" by Godspeed You Black Emporer -- their first and still their best. this is epic and dark. there is a lot of great music out there, just keep looking.
