Hello Thrash Congratulations! Though you seem to have the Metal-edged attitude that your nickname would suggest (wouldn't you have been better off being in Slayer in the early ninties?), I must thank you for your great input to music, which though now is around a decade of age, still sounds lush and still can compare with today's releases. You've given me many an hour of listening bliss......it's a shame I can't be fecked to learn how computers work, otherwise I'd almost certainly be checking out whatever's you've put on server blahdiblah. 'ello folks,
just to stick my oar in, i had a look / listened to some of Thrash's stuff on the KDX server when i visited ant bryan in florida a couple of weeks ago...
...so for those that were wondering, from the info on directory names, i *think* this *is* thrash / kris.
i hope it is, 'cos we could do with a shake-up on here...

Fook me, now this is funny. Am I the only one laughing? Any truth to the rumour that Alex does knob all on the remixes and it's really the likes of Kris etc that does the hard work? It's about time we had some new stuff from the Orb, instead of old shit masquerading as "new". Come on!

Fook me, 7 hours later and I'm still laughing. Sheeeeet, this is funny. Sorry, I needed a laugh, a mate of mine died yesterday [not looking for sympathy]. 'Ave it ;-)
so it sounds like i had the typical LX experience all round, as well. he arrived looking quite weary and a bit out of sorts (lord knows the man's been on a plane almost every day for a few weeks) so i introduced myself and we went in the back and proceeded to amass a crowd of smokers - i am truly impressed with the quantity he's able to consume and then go right out and do a clean set! according to LX, we got a "pretty natural" set - a lot of the tracks everyone's mentioned before. seems to be a lot of mash-ups happening these days (and i just saw Strictly Kev the night before, who went all out on that front). LX played the Toxygene/Eminem thing, which was pretty damn hot, and a few other tracks AHEGPB mixed with something, another Eminem track perhaps? it was a pretty bumpin set and then towards the end he went into some real dubby stuff, pulling a lot of samples from the Tino Corp Halloween album (which he just received before the show). all said and done, it was about 2 hours of tunes. he did mention he likes to keep his dj thing separate from Orb projects. it was a decent enough set (and his skills were up to par, which is sometimes a gamble) but truthfully, my favourite tracks were all the Orb stuff - *not* that i'd like him to dj only orb stuff, but, well, i'd rather have live Orb then dj LX. and this may be my misunderstanding of how djing happens, or maybe its just becuase he travels with limited records, but i'd prefer to hear different sets from gig to gig, and from the reports, they're all sounding quite similar. as expected, there was maybe only 60 people there, max, so it was a nice intimate setting for the fans that were there, and plenty of room to groove. this is the second time that's happened... maybe the promoters would like to, oh, i don't know, actually *promote* the event. (in contrast to Toby Marks, who was at a different club that night, and was seriously advertised, flyered, and whatnot) anyways, i didn't ply him for info on anything - just sat and had a very silly time smoking and talking about nothing in particular. (a few decorative bats which he named "fuck off" and "fuck it" - a source of hilarity for the rest of the night.) it was fun! =) rachel ______________________ Rachel's Orb Discography: http://www.migoto.com/orb
LX admits, humbly, it seems, in a certain interview somewhere that KW "makes all the music, and I have no problem with that." So is there some bad blood here? That LX and KW no longer work together is very disturbing to me; even though I didn't discover *ORB* until way after it was all over (1999), I still can't help but feel like my best friend just died! BTW, another Blue room release might be mere opportunism, but LX has been pretty up front in saying that 'we only do remixes for the money' sort of thing (somewhere, in some other interviews). To me, LX is the wit, and thrash is the spirit~ ===== **********compassionat.net**********

I've recently started burning copies of CDs for friends, on the condition that if they like it they have to buy it, and give the burned copy to someone else, with the same condition attached. If they like it, excellent, they'll buy a CD they wouldn't have done otherwise, and the artist gets one more fan and one more sale. If they don't like it, noone's lost any money as they wouldn't have bought the record anyway. Throw the burn in the bin, or give it to someone else with same condition. cap'n jon the moral pirate -- Please do not use this document as toilet tissue
See I burn lots of cds for friends, however I burn live shows/dj sets for people to get them introduced to the artist, if I don't have a live show of theirs then I'll do basically the same thing you do... I didn't even know this list was really up AND active...I'm a little startled... I'm really no completist and have no set lists written down, but i thought some of you might like to hear about how it went down in Bklyn the other night. I got to the Bar @ about 1:30a. There were about 20 people milling about and some guys on stage slightly bumping into LX. As I found out later it was the previous "band" actually trying to get LX OFF of the stage. I never really got the whole story, and as it turned out LX only played about 5 tracks after I arrived before he was ousted from the tables. I did see a 45 go on and then heard an interesting sounding AHEGPB come through...but that was the only highlight while at the bar. A friend and old orblistee had arranged some part of this event so we then reconvened at his loft with LX and his agent [I think] as well as two of the promoters. I believe it was about a dozen or 14 people who were present. Everyone was simply milling about so I quickly fired up a strawberry blunt and handed it to the Host who then made sure LX got a toke...conversations ensued and it was a pretty cool party honestly. After about 15-20min of smoking LX then took to the turntables. Eno's Ambient 1 was on and LX put a nice simple beat matched perfectly to it, I knew I was in for a treat. He kinda started out much the same as his usual sets even putting up the [I think famous by now] track with vocals "Deep in the jungle" and "Drums"...I dunno if that makes sense, and I dunno the title of the track sorry...the night was already pretty intensely weird. Um as the musiak progessed, he wound down with pretty ambient type washes and tones, nice and toasty. He eventually finished off with some perfect dub. All in all I got to talk with LX and smoke with him, so I really can't say anything bad about the night AT ALL. From what I saw and heard though there wasn't much talk about musiak, quite a bit of metaphysical and abstract type topics going down...So I didnee get any info on the Orb/BadOrb/future realease tip..sorry again. Overall LX played for what seemed like 90-120min. I did try to talk to the agent about working the concerts/shows in conjunction with the online fan base [you guys], like some sort of MegaOrbCon in SF [let's say]...with only promotion in the area and to the online crowd. He told me that there wasn't any US fanbase and that LX hardly gets any US press, I dunno if he was aware of the list[s] or not...but the topic didn't fly...sorry I tried. I dunno where to go from here, um I hope this was worth something to somebody if not you know where the delete key is... AMKontrabecki P.S. welcome Thrash! Finally someone to crack the whip and put all of us peons in our place!! He hee...Oh and I would agree theat the Orb/LX needs to put out new schtuff rather than old anniversary tracks/remixes...For all of you reminiscing how about an Orb "reunion" album and stadium tour? He hee

Heh. We seem to have exploded of late. ;)

Sounds wonderful; a great way to spend/end an evening, with basically a private DJ set from LX. Too bad no one hit record on the cassette deck... ;) Given all the crap going down (BadOrb, sparsely-attended DJ sets, switching labels again, etc.) I hope Alex doesnt just chuck it all. :/ Chris np: Thursday Teatime 9/5/02
