HAHAHAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yeah, dangerously close to 2 unlimited. and without enough or any irony to convince me that anybody really knew better. i happen to think The White Room is a great piece of work especially at the very particular moment that it was released, but this doesn't even come close to any kind of revival.
i received my bicycles and tricycles today and i am rather shocked and sad. i've been very forgiving in the past, but this is a joke. the thing that pisses me off is, i've really, really enjoyed the groovetech sets alex has given. if nothing else he's shown an excellent knowledge of music, enough for me to believe the man knows a GOOd SOUND when he hears one, but then when it comes to the works he puts his name to these days he's lucky if it comes close to the most enchanting moments of Blue Room or the most original and unique (not to mention f-ing beautiful) moments of FFWD, or even the clever thoughts behind Pomme Fritz (whether it was a joke or not f-- off it's great in some parts) and lovely stretches of songs like oxbow lakes or some of the technodon remixes. thomas fehlmann doesn't exactly help i'm sorry to say. why not make a whole record with sun electric (oh sorry S.E. Berlin). i personally think they suit the orb collective much more than god damn john roome!! i'll hear a track from someone like system 7's "after the rain" which as far as i'm concerned is the best track on that album -- and the only track alex had anything to do with, and i am certain that it's the best track ONLY because alex's ear was leant to it. but then what the f--- happens when it's just The Orb now? the whole thing just falls apart. what's up with that? anyway i guess i'm still hear because i still think as i said the man knows a good sound when he hears one...just too bad it's not showing on his own crap. i recommend cLOUDDEAD for anyone who hasn't heard it. thanks. and sorry for the rant.
