Just curious -

reykjavik, iceland, middle of nowhere ;) been on the list since.. 96? first contact: it was late may of '93. I had to go up north-east to drive a car for my grandfather to his summer resort. took buses back (which took almost twice as long as driving, due to frequent & long stops). had a portable cd player along which I borrowed from a friend, the thought of that long trip without music was unbearable... so while waiting in akureyri (the "other city" up north) for nearly 3 hours for the bus ride home, I decided to wander around to kill time. chanced upon a record shop. large sign in the window "sale! 50% off!". how could I resist? browsed through cds when I saw this funky looking cover... uforb "50% off!!!" proclaimed a sticker on the front. some faint thought tugged at the corner of my brain... "hey... orb? havn't I heard that name before?" so I asked the shop assistant if I could have a quick listen. no prob. skipped quickly through the first bits, thought it sounded... intriguing... checked out some other titles, and ended up buying only that uforb cd. when I finished walking around and got back to the bus station, I ended up just reading something while killing time and when the bus finally took off, I put the uforb cd on and listened to it while reading and staring out the window. "thanks" to the cruddy old-tech portable cd player, and the crap roads, the player ended up skipping repeatedly over the cd, but that was just cool, it somehow, as if by magic, managed to skip around so that most of the time it sorta sounded like a very long megamix... 3:45 hours long megamix damn... what an incredible journey uforb still remains as one of my all time favorite cds others? dunno... I usually have trouble placing something above other. if anything... top2 would also include lackluster's cdr#2. np: lackluster, wrapping (foc369cd): st-00 (highly recommend his new cd... beautiful stuff) --- Agust "nemesis1" - aaj@centrum.is - ICQ: 1290264 - http://nem1.cjb.net free your :) [tm]

Wow, I find this interesting. Excuse me for intruding, but I'm a big Sigur Ros fan, and was curious on the perspective you have on them being from Iceland.
