Hey Orbsters! Just wanted to pop in and say hello - I had a fantastic (and orb-filled) time in London. As Miles mentioned, despite his car's best effort at deterring us, we managed to meet up with Andy for a couple drinks before The Petit Orb gig. Andy looks great and has tons of projects in the works. He's mostly producing these days, so no album of his own, but I'm looking forward to hearing how Autolump turns out after he gets his hands on it. The show itself was a good time, but a bit bizarre. I had a terrific time hanging with the UK posse from the list, who are all top guys! Plus it always good to put a face with the email addy... They only did about 4 songs live, one of which was a Prayerbox track called Wicked One (which was excellent). As Miles mentioned, EDM was in there, too, as well as Dilmun - all great live. The rest of the night was all LX djing, mostly Orb tracks or remixes. Honestly, I think LX's djing has improved considerably when it comes to technical skill. He did pull a couple maneuvers which were pretty impressive at the start, but later on in the night things got a bit more muddy. I also thought there were tech problems, as the transitions between live pieces and records were a bit rough, plus it looked like Simon was mucking around with the cabling quite a bit, but according to Simon, that was just how LX decided things should go. I would have liked to have had more live tracks, but it always good to hear Satellite Serenade on a big sound system, and I had a great time hanging with the lads throughout the night. I did manage to grab a beer with Simon, who is fastidiously trying to finish up his own album... I'm really looking forward to hearing the final Prayerbox product, especially after the live track at the Cargo gig. He's a super-nice guy as well, so it was a nice cap to my orb-filled weekend. Unfortunately, I never managed to get ahold of Thrash - don't any of you Brits have voicemail?! ;) Don't suppose any of you were at the Chemical Brother dj gig at Turnmills on Sat? I saw someone go by in a BadOrb tog, but it was so hectic in there, I wasn't able to make an inquiry... =) rach ------------------------------------ Rachel's Orb Discography http://www.backsideoftheorb.com
"Unfortunately, I never managed to get ahold of Thrash - don't any of you Brits have voicemail?! ;)" Is there any truth to the rumor that Thrash was seen scurrying around backstage at the Petit Orb gig with wire cutters in hand and laughing maniacally?
