Indeed! M83, Cocteau Twins, Prodigy, New Order, Bauhaus, mercury rev, Doves, Ambulance Ltd., Arcade Fire... You have to check out Boom Bip, kinda like Plaid meets Tino Corp. I saw them last year at the Wire:Adventures in Modern Music festival here in Chicago. And Bright Eyes, I have soooo much respect for them, refusing to play in any Clear Channel-owned venue, Refusing to have their music played on any Clear Channel-afiliated radio station, and some how manage to ger the number 1&2 spots on the Billboard Singles charts in 2004. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4285614 I'm so there, and am interested in meeting up with other orbies. I'm considering making the trek again, if I do will have to actually hang out this time Gavin. Just listened to the new Boom Bip called Blued Eyed in the Red Room or some business, very impressive any fan of instrumental hip hop should go check that one out right now. Jason

What about Steve Reich? He's in the classical camp and you can't really dance to him, but a lot of good electronica seems to've been influenced by his stuff. I like the Reich Remixed album a lot. --- gel-sol@gel-sol.com wrote:

To me, it seems like the Orb and FSOL are in a camp all by themselves, in the sense that they both write very dense psychedelic epic music.
