And the 666/barcode thing was an interesting urban legend at one time... This came to mind today because there was something on MSN about putting microchips into your pets so in case they get lost, you can scan them and the chip will give the finder all the information on the owner, etc. It's now becoming a reality for some people as well, so they can carry around their medical information, etc. The whole thing reminded me of the 'bar code' sequence in the song, and how he related it back to the number 666.
I haven't read the whole thing (the Bible) (far from it, "thank God"), so I'm not sure what the context is..."No one could buy or sell unless he had this mark, that is, the beast's name or the number that stands for his name." -- Revelation 13:17-18" But note that the point is that commerce is evil, capitalism is bad, and you should prepare to accept the authority of church/state/god before that of your own mind. Like I say, I don't know if this is supposed to be after the coming of god, satan, or what, esp since apparently elsewhere in the Bible various professions get "blessed," but that's irrelevant detail since the primary point of religion is to suppress Man. Ugh. I'd say that it's more an indictment of government rather than a free market, since it would be government who would enforce the "mark". But of course, that means that it's already here since you need a government number (business permit, tax number, etc) to do business legally.

I think we're talking about two different things - I was talking about actual Bible quote and you appear to mean (by "it") the sample from the film. At any rate, assuming you do mean the latter, totally agreed - government intrusion into economic affairs (and individual liberty) is beyond galling. For that matter, I haven't kept up - what's the rave situation in the UK now, pretty much just clubs, right? I remember the shit coming down when Prodigy did "Jilted Generation" and of course I have Autechre's "Anti EP" (contains track without repetitive beats, suitable for broadcast at gatherings apparently, unless they amended the law)...ugh. US situation is beyond lame, at least in any city I've been in recently...few outdoor things in boonies, big deal, miss warehouses.... T
