Going through my massive Orb Directory, mostly from soulseek, I noticed the following, which I had never listened to: The Orb - (2001) Annie Nightengale Vs The Propellerheads Radio One Can't find any info on this ever taking place, but its seems awfully authentic. Any background? Wierd, as I'm typing this, the US version of the British show, Top Gear, is playing a song by the propwashers themselves. Damn thats a good show, rife with popular music samples. Anyhow, question for Rachel. Theres also this Orb at Maritime Hall - San Francisco 8th April, 2001 video I have.. but when you open the folder it just says 2B1 presents - Maritime Hall and its some broken web link.. wtf? What a ripoff!! --
I have that on my ftp if I am not mistaken. Sorry to be a stickler... 27 April 2001 maritime hall San Francisco CA I've heard of the video but not seen it. i believe its 30 mins long, stationary camera. I saw nobody videotaping this show, but maybe the venue had a camera. I know they had mics suspended from the ceiling over the audience there. Out of all the Orb shows I've seen, that Maritime Hall show was the best!! Which was shortly followed by the worst Orb show ever - Coachella. :-) On Aug 27, 2005, at 12:26 PM, Matt Schieffer wrote:

Interesting. I knew it was Detroit, But I didn't know the date. So it was the 2nd Detrot show then. The venue is listed as DTE, which I hope somebody knows what it stands for. Makes sense, it was the day before Chicago's gig @ the Tweeter Center. (Maritime Hall thread)

Which was definately worst of the tour. Earlier in the day, Bad Company played on the same stage & ran waaaaay long. The stage manager didn't intervene! As a result, Tricky was offered $$$ not to play, but refused. Even though he performed for 35 minutes instead of the 50 he was alotted, he ran into the Orb's time. As the Orb was setting up & Tricky was breaking down, some of the Orb's equipment "magicly" dissapeared, delaying the Orb setup even further. So with 12:00 midnight rapidly approaching, the Orb tried to start as quickly as possible, and had several equipment issues as a result. They only got 3 songs in before the Police shut them down for curfew -Mile Long Lump Of lard, Turn It Down, and LFC which was attempted twice. To top off the the irritation, this set was being professionally videotaped. I'm sure the Orb may never agree to let this video out, but we'll try to get their story and some clips in the future. Took the words right out of my mouth... ;-) Thanks, Matt!
That whole tent was running super late, so they went on well after expected. The set was short and rife with tech problems. IIRC, about 2 songs in they switched over to LX djing while they frantically tried to get the sampler patched in correctly/fixed. They got it sorted, but it took about 10 mins, and their set was already being truncated by the fact that the venue has to end precisely at midnight. So when that time rolled around, apparently the guys wanted to keep going since they were just getting into it, but they stood backstage with cops. To those of us in the audience, it looked a bit like they just gave up and walked off - no promoter or anyone came out to say they had to cut them off. LX seemed pissed and started chucking stuff into the audience - records, fluff (the stuffed sheep), and then started passing a bottle of whiskey. Amusing? Yes. Musically good? Nope. Pretty disappointed, but I was fresh from the Maritime gig, so I figured I got the best and worst.
