RE: RE: [Orb] Re: Orb digest, Vol 1 #163 - 5 msgs
Okay "Bro", it's my turn to call it how I see it. People like me? People who work, and have money??? You keep making these broad, narrow-minded generalizations. I'm not sure what you're point is, other than you just don't like paying market value for anything. It's simple supply and demand. The demand is high, while the supply is low. Basically your saying that everyone else shouldn't buy the album you want to buy, so you can buy it for less money? If you want to blame anyone, blame the record companies for not pressing enough copies to satisfy the demand. DJ Forkboy

youre right i cant call them all kids but they are rich and have credit cards with no limits, and those people and people like you willing to feed off them are the reason all this music is absurdly priced. sorry bro just calling like i see it . . . DJ TV

Well, I also paid $8, for a copy of the Aubrey Mixes on CD, $15 on LP, US CD versions of PD & LFC for $3. That's just a fraction of what their worth. I would say that $125 for Orbscure Trax is steep, but I picked up about 5 copies when it came out. Those were hard enough to get a hold of, and I'm in the US (the only place it was released). Imagine what Orb fans in other countries are willing to pay. The great thing about the internet is that it opens the collectible market up to the entire world. People pay as much as the market is willing to bear. To say that the only people buying are "rich kids" with credit cards is a broad generalization.
By the way I'm still looking for a few things that I will pay good money for, or make some nice trades.

yea there are rich kids on the internet with their credit cards willing to pay whatever price for orb items. the same thing happened with rare sublime items. on ebay rare sublime CDs and such go for insane prices it makes me cringe when i see people pay $140 for a CD i payed $8 for. prices for rare out of print music has gotten out of control but whatayagonnado; anyway congrats on your successful sales.

Funnily enough all the Orb stuff went almost immediately, like within a day or two of sending you guys that original message.
Oh well. I asked what I thought I could get for them, and guess what? I got it immediately. :-)
Keef.
Yeah...like the prices; which tend to be anywhere from 3-5 times the going rate, at least on the Orb stuff.
Pass. But thanks for spamming us. :P
Chris
Yeah, $125 for the Aubrey Mixes CD is a bit steep...

Hey Orbsters! Anyone seen any sign of Bob 11? My 10 only arrived last week, and now with the excitment of Bob 12, I'm wondering if I got overlooked, or is Garphoo lacking behind as usual? (I already tried sking them directly, but they're off at the footy tournament, or whatever.) On non-Orb news, I've been hearing that Junkie XL Elvis remix all over the place here in SF! Leave it to the Orb list to be first in the know! *desparately trying to change the topic before a fight breaks out* =) rachel ______________________ Rachel's Shrine to The Orb: http://www.migoto.com/orb

Nope, not yet. I just got BOB10 about a week and a half ago, probably won't see BOB11 for at least 2 weeks I am guessing... -- ________________________ omz beautamous loaf recordings http://www.hotweird.com/loaf
ok, so my friend just sent me this hilarious mp3... someone has recorded the voices of online dictionaries pronouncing the lyrics of songs, and then combined them wth the music... its a very disturbing result. you can download it here, if you're interested in having a laugh: http://dictionaraoke.mirrors.gweep.net/ =) rachel ______________________ Rachel's Shrine to The Orb: http://www.migoto.com/orb
