Re:_[Orb]_Re:_[Orb]_See_ya_again!_What=B4s_up=3F?=
I love the Emu sounds and really wish I had one of those Orbit modules (SOOOOOO SWEET!). No money. I use mostly Roland stuff. I have a DR-202 (Dr. Sampler), MC-303, and SP-808EX. The 808 has a D-beam controller which you can assign to any two of six parameters and then you control them by stabbing your hands in and out of their field. It's really fun and confuses the audience. I've got a nifty thing called the FR-777 which is a true analogue monophonic synth like a mini-moog with a sequencer instead of a keyboard. It's got a BUNCH of knobs. You can take a better look at my "studio" at http://www.ifpr.homestead.com/s_studioequip.html. Click on the pictures for bigger shots. I use all this stuff in live shows as well. There is one particular sound the Orb uses in their music that I'm dying to figure out. It's somewhere between a hi-conga hit and a wood block. Unfortunately I can't find a good example at the moment so, never mind :). Does anyone know a link to a page that shows the Orb's equipment? And thanks for the response to my FFWD request. It's a beautiful world! Institute for Psychic Reform Change your Mind www.ifpr.homestead.com Hi, Yes I know that instruments, I use the EMU groove Box MPXL-7 and EMU 5000 Ultra Sampler, and a scratchable cd- Player, the emu Groovebox makes everything scratchable, too. Mouse on Mars use strange instruments as Laser based things that they play with their arms and hands. Interesting for controlling is also this page : www.doepfer.de, Kraftwerk had worked together with them, thanx, christoph
I'm into making music miself too.. My most recent purchase is the Yamaha RS7000, which has plenty of realtime controllers! Suggestion? And i know that LX uses the Korg Kaoss Pad a lot during shows.

I know the one you're talking about, i think. (It's nice, isn't it?) Apparently a lot of the sounds that the Orb use are recordings which have been digitally treated and messed around--certainly back when Kris was in the band there was a lot of play and processing involving natural noises like trickling water and the like, which Alex has said contributes to the unique texture of the Orb's music.

Alex hasn't ever been much of a gear-head. Andy was the gearhead when he was in the band and he gave a list to Future Music if i recall correctly, about the same time he was appearing in ads standing over some Korg synth or other. All my mags are in storage right now so someone else can dig it up. :) Kwook -- --- --(--( - - http://www.kwookyworld.com/ - - )-- )--- -- - _______) ICQ# 11029830 : e-mail womble@it.net.au (_________ Kwook on the musickal loose! I was curious if anyone noticed any difference in content when first selecting location when accessing the groovetech website. For instance, at one time I could not pull up any UK charts, only US, so I thought to clear out my cookies and relogin to the site, selecting the eastern part of the world, rather than the western, hoping that "tailoring the site's content in conjunction with my location" would give me the UK charts or something different as I don't really care too much for the US charts (I think they're crap, actually.) Anyone else had any experience with this? _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com

I think it has more to do with which warehouse you can order from, rather than site content. I've never noticed a difference in content; although I could also imagine sourcing the streams from different servers depending on where you are. Chris np: Fortran 5 - Look To The Future
