RE: [Orb] Re: Orb digest, Vol 1 #163 - 5 msgs
Well, I also paid $8, for a copy of the Aubrey Mixes on CD, $15 on LP, US CD versions of PD & LFC for $3. That's just a fraction of what their worth. I would say that $125 for Orbscure Trax is steep, but I picked up about 5 copies when it came out. Those were hard enough to get a hold of, and I'm in the US (the only place it was released). Imagine what Orb fans in other countries are willing to pay. The great thing about the internet is that it opens the collectible market up to the entire world. People pay as much as the market is willing to bear. To say that the only people buying are "rich kids" with credit cards is a broad generalization. By the way I'm still looking for a few things that I will pay good money for, or make some nice trades. yea there are rich kids on the internet with their credit cards willing to pay whatever price for orb items. the same thing happened with rare sublime items. on ebay rare sublime CDs and such go for insane prices it makes me cringe when i see people pay $140 for a CD i payed $8 for. prices for rare out of print music has gotten out of control but whatayagonnado; anyway congrats on your successful sales.

Funnily enough all the Orb stuff went almost immediately, like within a day or two of sending you guys that original message.
Oh well. I asked what I thought I could get for them, and guess what? I got it immediately. :-)
Keef.
Yeah...like the prices; which tend to be anywhere from 3-5 times the going rate, at least on the Orb stuff.
Pass. But thanks for spamming us. :P

Yeah, $125 for the Aubrey Mixes CD is a bit steep...
l8rs,

At the risk of stating the obvious, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone wants to pay 125 bucks, let em. I guess most people voted with their wallets. Perhaps whoever bought that wants to invest their money in real rarities in future? - some of the CD/Vinyl acetates?? PS I was expecting an Orb rarity with the blue room thing. Was a little disappointed to see it was only the Vinyl promo ;-)
I forgot who was asking this - it looks like we will see a UK release of a Badorb "best of". I've seen a CDR titled "Badorb.com vol one". 12 Tracks, no tracklisting as yet. I'd guess it's probably the lead tracks from the first 12 EPs. Not much point pontificating until anyone has it in their hands.
