I sent Bbroo the suggestion of Lori Carson fronting the band Golden Palominos on the album Pure and the song Little Suicides. But as I read your posts I thought, "Yeah. Cocteau Twins." I love their stuff and they're one of my favorite live shows ever. Then I thought, "Dead Can Dance. Yeah." Never saw them but generally love the Celtic influenced sounds. And then I thought, "Fuck yeah! Curve rules." Curve has been one of my favorite bands since the first time I heard that blue ep WAY back in tha day. They were pretty excellent live though the vocals were much too buried in the wall of guitars. And yeah, that Budded on Earth song is killer. Sarah McLachlan is another favorite of mine. That whole Fumbling Towards Ecstacy album is too fine for words. I'm not so sure how great the singer is but I really love that first Single Gun Theory album. She kind of sings monotone but it sits nicely in themusic. And let's not forget Blondie. Debbie Harry'll kick all of your asses any day. Joni Mitchell made some good records. ____________________ www.psychicreform.com ____________________ "Be who you are... not what's cool." --Chef.

"Fuck yeah!" The Rabbit in Moon mixes of "Possession." HELL YES!

Except Belinda Carlisle's. Or...Joan Jett's. T PS - the above not tongue in cheek - I like Blondie reasonably well, but then there's _Beauty and the Beat_ ("Automatic" particularly nice) and then _I Love Rock 'n' Roll_ is just wall to wall awesomeness. Second record I ever bought (behind Queen's _Flash Gordon_) and "Crimson and Clover" still gives chills.
Canadian singer Esthero has an amazing voice that draws you in and holds you there. Download "That Girl" and "Breath From Another". Only released one album back in 98 but has since made appearances with Ian Polley and others. -- Brian Kinney theorb@shaw.ca ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Evil" <alanevil@bellsouth.net> To: "orblist" <orb@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, November 15, 2004 7:36 PM Subject: [Orb] chick singers

I'm sure the group will crucify me for this but Sinead O'Connor's music had a tremendous impact on me particularly almost all of "The Lion and the Cobra" and several tracks on "I Do Not Want What I Have Not Got". Interestingly she became one of my clients when she moved to Los Angeles in 1991 and we became friends for the few months that she was here. She is such a sweet person and very different then her public persona. So do you own Massive Attack's "100th Window"? Gavin --- John Wintemute <john@wintemuteinsurance.com> wrote:

Definitely - I like the track with Sinead & overall I enjoy the album but it does not really hold a candle to their previous efforts although there was only one original band member making this album. Just last week I heard a new Massive Attack track on KCRW 89.9fm which I believe they said is on the soundtrack to an upcoming film which I don't remember the title of. Pretty killer track though. Back to form.
