Hello All. 800+ unread emails in my inbox. I've been busy lately, but did manage to make it out to see LX spin at Smartbar in Chicago on Monday. As luck would have it Simon Philips was in town and we met up for dinner, discussing the finer points of the industry, Ali G, women, and Prayerbox (Which is mainly his thing, not LX's). Afterwords we went to Smartbar and caught LX as he was spinning - he started early tonight. I caught close to 2 hours worth of his set, but due to the overdriven soundsystem that night my recording suffers from bass distortion (my mics just couldn't handle it) He did spin a bit of BadOrb selections, some oddities, and quite possibly some new Orb material? After his set, we met up and exchanged conversation. He says a new Orb album could drop as early as September 02, saying they have a lot of material written, and now need to make an album of it. He also plans on coming back to the US with the Orb on another tour. Now let's see when the next album REALLY comes out... He updated me on his life as a father, and how Mia keeps him young and is already showing a great interest in music. Simon left early since he had to catch a plane back to England early the next morning, but LX & I stayed at the Smartbar until 3:30, dancing, mingling.. As we left I was able to snap a photo of him next to my liscense plates, which he was very amused by. As we parted ways, He seemed saddened by me not driving to Minneapolis to see him spin. What a great great guy LX is! Gavin PS, all but 6 of 15 shows have been converted to cd from the 2 US tours last year, and LX has copies of each one.
