Phil- That wasnt me up the front with a camcorder (wish it was)- though I was up close, laughing at Hillages gurny facial expressions. Jonathan- know what ya mean about the period after Glasto- its like someones torn out the rekindled spirit of youth that you just discovered you had again- shit- Im only 23- I shouldnt be saying stuff like that. Couldnt agree with you more about the Experience tent- what a heep of bollocks, but theres a ridiculous amount of people out there who love that TV Trance stuff, and its best for all others that they are locked away in their own cheesy domain- I dont think Ill ever forget buying a falafel outside that tent (I was just passing- believe me!) and being served by some gurning fool who proceeded to wave his hands in my face for about 5 minutes while chanting Brandon Bloks name to the monotonous beat- oh what a stain on my memory! Roni Size was mos def phat- but thought Marky and Patife absolutely outgunned all the Brittish D & B djs. Squarepusher was another of the secret Glade acts (played just before Orbital played on the sat)- and was as mashed-up as norm- couldnt agree with you more about the Glade either- what an absolutely incredible selection of music- and a real illegal ravey atmos as well- Id also like to pay my respects to the tent that opened up next to the Glade stage when the music stopped- continuing, generally speaking, with some blinding electro, and in particular, a 5am set from Boards of Canada. As Lou Carpenter once said when he discovered Sheryll had been run over: Oh this all so unreal. Bring on the Essential Festival, you mutha Fuckaz!

I saw Loophead at Glastonbury and was overwhelmed by it! It was basically System 7 playing live whilst Alex Dj’d the Live stuff through the mixer along with the vinyl and what looked like a Kaos effects pad. The result was a fantastic mix of Orb and System 7 stuff, along with the Loophead track they released on badorb.com. Loads of mistakes (including bringing up one channel so loud they blew the speakers at the back) and on a number of occasions you could hear Alex queuing up the records. But none of this spoilt it and their set was a major festival highlight for me. Harry, I saw you there with your camcorder! I was at the front wearing a Bob9 shirt, dont know if you saw me, if there's any chance of a copy of your film, please mail me. The woman you described as looking like your gran is Miquette Giraudy, Steve Hillage's wife!
Before Loophead we were sat in the Glade and I cheered at a bloke that looked like a member of ZZ-Top wearing a flowery frock and Elvis sunglasses, after which he came and sat down next to us, opened up his bag. And proceeded to place a healthy portion of Grass and resin into my hand! He then said something like “All it costs is a smile”! Top bloke! Said substances were then enjoyed by many throughout the rest of the festival and definitely highlighted the Loophead experience!
