OT -- Dub and reggae and ting / sample disc / bob tog od aa2
Dub and reggae and ting : "The needlessly reverential crusty/digi scene will yield little real reward. These days the shelves are crammed with reissues from the essential time capsule '70- '76 period. No excuse then for Orb albums or ignorance." Don't you just hate purists? "It can't be any good because it's not the 'original' stuff." Rubbish. By the way, the Blood & Fire label I recommended earlier has several King Tubby releases. http://www.bloodandfire.co.uk/ I have the following cds which will go up on eBay soon: Congos "Heart of the Congos" (gorgeous artwork), Keith Hudson "Pick a Dub," The Dreads at King Tubby's 1974-77 "If deejay was your trade," Yabby U "King Tubby's Prophesy of Dub," and Tappa Zukie "In Dub." I've also got some Heartbeat compilations that'll be in the bunch. Actually, I may keep the Congos cd. It's so sweet. sample disc: It may be a chicken and egg thing with that sample disc. Did the Orb use the samples and Zero G later collected them or vice versa. I've used a couple of Zero G collections of loops and they kick ass. Read the following out loud to someone who doesn't know anything about the on-line Orb stuff: I got AA2 with the cd od Bob 12. from what i've read, it seems that the Togs are sent separate from the BOBs. is this true? this is the first i've ordered a Tog on-line. I think that's hilarious. Institute for Psychic Reform Change your Mind www.psychicreform.com

Even more silly when The Orb aren't trying to make "original" dub. OK, there are plenty of dub-influences in there, but it's like saying that the Stones made crap Blues, because they don't sound like Robert Johnson, or Hendrix made crap rock'n'roll because it doesn't sound like Chuck Berry!

It'd make quite a good sample in the background of an Orb track. It makes even less sense than the excellent linguaphone/furniture (?) one on Cydonia :-) -- Bullshit makes the flowers grow & that's beautiful
