RE: [Orb] Dr Alex Paterson's Voyage into Paradise [Dragonfly-2001 ]
Although, the stellar track for me was Requiem by "Killing Joke". I had never heard it before, and it blew me away...
It's worth noting that: - The version of "Requiem" on the mix is not the original version from Killing Joke's self-titled debut LP. This doesn't mean you shouldn't pick up said LP, though, as it's a classic. (I can't remember if they gave remix credits inside the CD liner notes, but I do remember that it's merely identified as "Requiem" on the tracklist, which could lead to some confusion.) - The version on "Voyage Into Paradise" was remixed by former Orb co-conspirators Kris "Thrash" Weston and Greg Hunter and is available on 12" vinyl (on "The Pandemonium Single") and CD (on "Pandemonium in Dub"). Happy hunting. JG
I have the Track is you want to email me off list to talk about it. -----Original Message----- From: orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of John Goelzer Sent: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 12:03 PM To: 'orb@mailman.xmission.com' Subject: RE: [Orb] Dr Alex Paterson's Voyage into Paradise [Dragonfly-2001 ]

Since you do this constantly, would it be too much trouble for *you* to simply email the person offlist, rather than the continuous 1-line hit-and-run posts that quote the entirety of the previous post? You know, to spare the rest of us; who've seen dozens of posts like this from you. Now that you decided to rejoin us under a new name. Chris np: v/a - Offbeat: A Red Hot Sound Trip

Heh. This is coincidental; I was just going to post about this remix... There are ostensibly two versions of this remix: Requiem (a floating leaf always reaches the sea mix) [on Killing Joke: Pandemonium] 12": 1994 UK (Butterfly; BFLT 17 CD5: 1994 UK (Butterfly; BFLDB17) Requiem (a floating leaf always reaches the sea dub mix) [on Killing Joke: Change] 12": 1992 UK (Virgin; 7243-89006-469) CD5: 1992 UK (Virgin; VSCDT 1432 / 7243-89006-421) (The time listed in Lazlo's discography for the dub mix is wrong; all versions are roughly 10:55 long.) However, comparing the CD versions of this track, they are identical, except each channel has its phase inverted between the mixes. My vinyl-digitizing setup is currently dis-assembled, so I can't be positive, but listening to the two vinyl versions, they also sound identical. Anyone have any definitive insight on this one? Chris
