Oh bullshit cassette players are as good as mp3. At the volume level I've got the hiss alone would damage my hearing and drown out the music.
I don't know if your addressing me, but I wasn't comparing cassette players vs mp3 players. I'm talking about the sound quality of mp3s. Mp3s sucks, IMO. In order to compress the audio data, mp3 conversion cuts out parts of the frequency. You can NEVER get those parts back. I'm not an expert in sound, but I can hear a difference between something that is in mp3 and something that was never compressed. At the higher rates of transfer it is harder to detect but it's totally possible for a well trained ear. Conversion to mp3 can create a "swirly" or "whooshy" kind of sound. Vocals also tend to take on a "tinny" quality that is pretty easy to detect. Hey, if you like mp3 - more power to you. Lots of people use it and love it. If you don't mind the sound degredation then it's a great format to use. And I agree that it's conveniet for storage of large amounts of audio data. I just prefer not to have music in mp3 format, thank you very much. -matt _________________________________________________________________ Let the new MSN Premium Internet Software make the most of your high-speed experience. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=byoa/prem&ST=1
