Yeah, I saw them both a couple of weeks ago too, I am a longtime Amon Tobin fan and an avid collector of all of his records. I had never heard Prefuse 73 before, but was very impressed with his performance (especially the way he was using his sampler to make it sound like scratches) and listened to his album the next day, which was equally good. Amon's set started out well with him playing some of the stuff off his new album (which I would recommend, but I think Supermodified the one before that is still my favorite), but then about halfway through his set he started playing drumnbass and never returned to the heavyweight distorted breaks that I had come to hear. He pretty much lost the crowd with a third of the kids leaving before he was finished, oh well. But I will definitely go see him again, I even met him once and he was a very nice and down to earth guy! I saw Surgeon "spin" with it in NYC a few weeks ago. he was just playing regular techno trax, and i would imagine some of his own new stuff not yet on vinyl. he seemed a little cold at first, but there were some better slower mixes during the second hour of his set... i kinda wish he was flipping real records, although looking at the lapton to see the next track's waveform was pretty cool. -andrew
