Actually the whole wild west image with everyone wearing a pistol and carrying a rifle is a complete myth invented by Hollywood and the gun industry. Most pioneer families had one muzzle loading rifle between the bunch of them and they only fired it if they were pretty sure they could hit food. From what I've been able to gather the percentage of armed (like every cowboy in the movies) folks was probably lower than it is in your average American city. A single multi-shot rifle cost more than most people would earn in ten years. Not to mention the cost of a box of bullets was enough to buy a pig. Total fabrication to make sure our "right" to buy assault weapons isn't abrogated. One has to believe in the Judeo Christian pantheon to believe Shrub is Satan. He's the puppet head of a group of evil and perverted fuckers but he himself is just a sawed off little spoiled cunt. Though he's going to get right to the bottom of 9/11! He's gotten the most trusted man in America to head the investigation: H. Kissinger! And it's a damn good thing he's put that convicted felon Poindexter in charge of the SS, I mean, Department of Absolute and Complete Knowledge of Everything Anyone Does. I feel so much more secure than I did when it was just the lovely and caring John Ashcroft I had to worry about. 20 Quid, huh? Institute for Psychic Reform Change your Mind www.psychicreform.com

My "main concern" is ensuring that there's still life left in this planet when my son grows up into it. Therefore, I'm deeply concerned about the state of the world, especially right now, as our governments all talk with one another about who's getting what from the spoils of a war on Iraq. I also happen to like the Orb's music, a lot. If you're not deeply concerned about the state of things, then you're not paying attention, which means that those of us who are concerned are not doing our job properly. We're in a unique place and time in history, never has there been so much resistance to war BEFORE it has begun. That means the time to act is now. We've gotta get up of our asses and put an end to this cycle of aggression and violence, or we'll all suffer for it. Your voice is needed for the cause. It's not all Little Fluffy Clouds, I'm afraid. We all need to work against the darkness gathering on the horizon. Anyhow - the spirit of "peace and love" is clearly embodied in some Orb music. So the ravings of concerned Orb fans have found a home here, I think because the music appeals to people of like mind. I hope some good can come of it - and personally, welcome it. Peace!!! Mick
Dear Mike, Dear Kris, I support Amnesty, the International Otter Survival Fund (yes !), Survival, Greenpeace, etc... I read and saw everything that Michael Moore did. I subscribed to a french newspaper to know what's going on everywhere in this world (and I don't watch tv news). I vote. So don't tell me I don't care about what's outside my apartment. If the Orb list is only dedicated to : "oooooooooooh, Bush is bad" "eeeeeeeeeew, the world's in trouble" AND "how can I access to this ftp ?" "how can I burn my cdrs ?", well I will leave this room and don't bother you with my Orb related news and comments. You'll meet me at a World Politic mailing list, where I'll tell to the subscribers what I think about the Material Mantra remix. :) Take care, JCFromParis
hay man dont dis - you talkin to the guy that made orb what it is! no not me, i mean kris - he made my fav album 'live 93 'he can say what he likes !

My previous comments were not intended as an attack on you or your personal involvement in the world, and I apologize if my focus appeared to be you, personally. Although talk of international affairs and war and Bush is not related to the Orb, it's something that impacts all of us. I think dialog, and lots of it, is necessary to foster awareness and resistance. We've got to keep talking. Here's as good as anywhere. Better than lots of places, maybe, since the Orb's music seems likely to attract the type of folk that made up the anti-war movement in the 60s (to make a broad generalization.) And on this note, Zmag has a great article about "Talking With Friends And Family About Iraq" posted on their site right now: http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=15&ItemID=2662 "A November 2002 poll by the Christian Science Monitor shows that a majority of US citizens now support the assassination of foreign leaders in the "war on terror" and that one in four can imagine backing the use of nuclear weapons. This growing willingness to support violence reflects the fear that has become a common denominator of public life in the US since September 11, 2001. As people committed to human rights, we can point out ways that the Bush Administration has sought to channel this fear into support for its war against Iraq (for example, by lying about Iraqi involvement in the September 11 attacks, as the White House did again on September 26, 2002). And we can point out that this exploitation of grief and fear for political gain is a form of violence." PEACE!!! Mick

Hmmm, I think I'll listen to Apollo XI's "Peace In The Middle East" when I get home :-) -- "Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature" - Rich Kulawiec
