Jason, you kinda put the cart before the horse going right for Spokes. Being their latest album, as well as Trainer their first album, they seem to be the hardest to swallow. If you are an Orb fan I friggin' gar' on' teee (as that cajun cook used to say) you'll enjoy Restproof Clockwork. My personal favorite album is "Double Figure," so favorite, that indeed I gave the vinyl version as a wedding gift this winter and almost went and bought him some "as seen on tv" gift instead so I could have it. I guess the best presents are the ones you want back. And Alan E., I know you are the token 'sevant' listee, but don't go recommending P-TV on here or I'm gonna hafta land on you feet first... you soda-pop, cracka' ass, kentucky hick. p.s. Oh, and jason.. if you can get Black Dog or Plaid's peel sessions you'll have a good idea of what they can do. The rare calypso or island song they do are ab fab. Someone should give me the ftp addy so I can upload those old Black Dog discs I shelled out for as well. Very orbish.
"Spokes" is currently in heavy rotation in my stereo, along with The Mars Volta and Godspeed You! Black Emperor's "Yanqui X. O." IMHO, some really amazing stuff here. Picked up US B&T last week too, much better than the Japaneese version. Hope all of you are doing well, my computer's still down from the move.
I'm sorry, but I just listened to Spokes and thought it to be total shit. I guess I'm not into "that sound" or something.
Are all Plaid albums similar?
