Re: [Orb] Bless You - What Gives?
BadOrb may be very interesting and mysterious, but I am in the UK, and I reckon it has a completely useless website. I may not be a technical gibbon, but I can navigate my way round the Internet with relative ease. With the BadOrb website however, I only find 100% frustration, because my server wont support letting me buy jack- and Im not technically gifted enough to sort out another option. I dunno who of you saw the Cydonia website, but this was equally glitched and made computers I was using crash. Do I get such problems from similar mail-order style websites?- Certainly not. Dont get me wrong. I love the Orb and similar tuneage, but the fact that I am unable to buy from the website makes me wanna give up- or I could bid for the new single on e-bay for 10 times the amount of money youd expect to pay by mail order or in a shop! It really wouldnt be hard to sort out a smoother website that could be of easy access to anyone who wants to use it, maybe even some good old mail order. I must have put several miles worth of lard into LXs wallet over the years, but with this website, I couldnt feel less rewarded. I dont want abusive ridicule from you technical boffs out there, I just want easy means to purchase the music I love. Does anyone fancy copying this to someone at BadOrb- for their own sakes they should begin to take notice of the mounting criticism that is here at a core fanbase- I dread to think what an average Orb punter would make of the website. In short: BadOrb- Good Concept, shite website.

ok, so CD Now is showing"Badorb.com - Bless you" as in stock and

what gives?! could i *honestly* get it faster by ordering from cdnow than the source itself? this whole badorb.com has been an exceedingly frustrating experience, and is actually getting to the point where its putting me off the music...
Heh. I know what you mean.
But...bear in mind:
1) BadOrb.com's primary business is 12" singles (and t-shirts(!?)), and their primary market is the UK. The other stuff is icing on the cake. 2) Bless You has been available in Japan for a month or two. 3) You should be able to buy it at any decent record store in the US today. (I did.)
Have they screwed up? Yes. (Like me having BOB 12 & 13 while other people in LA still don't have BOB 11. And their packing still blows.)
Will they continue to screw up? Yes.
Have they made bad and/or contradictory marketing decisions? Hell yes.
Was it a bad idea to release Bless You in Japan and the US before the BadOrb release? Yes, but it was probably out of their hands once they signed the deals.
Are they getting better? Yes.
Is there any better way, short of personally smoking LX out, to support LX/the Orb at this point? Not really. (Unless you can promote an Orb show or LX DJ set.) ;)
Now, I have yet to be screwed hard by BadOrb; how they handle it if and when it happens could well change my feelings... ;)

well, as a "technical boff", i agree with you, and will not ridicule you. i do some web design, and it is obvious from looking (and working through) BadOrb.com that it was designed by an "artist" with no regard to "usability". it looks great, but it's hard to find stuff. do some testing on average users people -- it's amazing what you will find out! unfortunately, this sort of thing is becomong more and more typical. i blame Macromedia Flash. or, rather, the morons who insist on using it for EVERYTHING just because they can.

hmmm..... this might be a good idea. however, there is no way to send them feedback indicated on the site. at least, not that i have found yet.

quite nicely summed up. ...for a non-technical gibbon! :) PJK ===== All the other kids are doing it --> http://www.EvilSponge.org __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com

sales@badorb.com is the only address i've ever had a response out of i forwarded them some fixes for some broken CSS on one of their pages and they said they'd send it on to the techy people - haven't checked whether it's been fixed but they do respond to mails at that address. -- "Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment: Cleverness is mere opinion, bewilderment is intuition." - Jalal-uddin Rumi
