Florida's drinking laws are 21+ and up. The clubs down here in Miami don't close til about 5-6 am. Although that is not your ideal place to play live. Pretty much everything on South Beach is going to be House or Trance, for the tourists and local party boys. I have a band myself and play out once in a while. It's a tough scene right now down here in South Florida. A lot of the parties have dried up over the last few years. Plus people don't seem open to new music right now. As mentioned Orlando or Tampa might be a better, plus it saves you about 3-4 hours worth of drive time. Cranks www.silencerepellent.net +--(Movin' Molecules)--+ Yeah, I've heard florida has quite a diverse scene...I really dig Richard Devine. But florida kinda scares me. I guess I'm afraid that I'll get conned into getting a suckjob in some dirtbags minivan by a shemale, have it pop up on the internet, and then get ran over by a college football player in his Escalade, only to be made fun of by some old jewish people. What are the beer laws in Fla? I base all my preliminary judgements on states by their beer laws, the main reason I try to stay away from states like Pennsylvania. Miami has a lot of good stuff: Schematic (otto von shirach, dino felipe) Phonecia is down there Push button objects live there Doormouse is from there I'm sure there closed minded, due to proliferation of house and trance, but the brain dance tour with ovuca, cylob, and bogdan ryczinski was in miami a year ago. .. :| eric :| :| www.xenlab.com :| enlightenment thru evolution .. -----Original Message----- From: orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of SR Cranks Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 11:59 PM To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Orb] Florida Florida's drinking laws are 21+ and up. I finally found the mix I originally heard of the album track and it's MUCH better than the album version. It's on a set I upped to a few FTP's (Moondog's for sure, plus another, although I can assure you it wasn't stringers) called 'Sixteen-Fifty 02.11.2002' and is about halfway into the first part.
You could fall down a very steep hill and record your bones and major organs being crushed with an internal microphone and it would be better than piss stance.. You could record outside my house on Friday night at about 2am and it would be better... I would rather, seriously now, honestly , listen to some poor guys heads being cracked open on swinton insurance's window by 10 pissed geezers ganging up on him than that piece of laughable horseshit... It has so little meaning it makes me think of alexs last ditch attempt as he gets old to turn the orb into a pop institution - going back on everything he ever stood for , like so many dj's ... The ones who brought dance over to the uk from ibiza Innovators at the time Danny rampling / paul oakenfold / all those tossers (there are a few that stick to their guns defo though) Now what are they doing? I'll tell you A pile of steaming carp that's what.. People who say im bitter about the orb Just aint getting the point.. Im giving you guys an education Not just to the complete underlying anarchy and chaos of the orb (which is nothing like you imagine it - obviously by reading your posts) But a microcosm of what the business is all about BULL You just don't realise it yet! :) I dunno music should be an exploratory Soul searching beautiful inspired crazy fucking amazing All engulfing visit to the void of one ness where magic happens And there is no you.. When you cant eat and someones asking you for 80& of your song It puts a dampener on it - know what I mean? heheheheh -- )) (( c[_] bLiP www.justablip.co.uk -----Original Message----- From: orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of bi11i Sent: 22 June 2003 22:49 To: 'What were the skies like when you were young?' alright, can't resist this one, time to open myself up for a sunday special flame job... if we are all so clueless and you obviously have some interest in interaction (else why would you bother to be on the list), why don't you enlighten us into the complete underlying anarchy and chaos of the orb? i would be very interested in hearing about it from the horses mouth, not just vague comments about how it was all crap and so many years ago blah blah blah but some actually factual commentary on what the process was like... i agree that you are spot on about the degeneration of the sound, each album seems to get less and less listenable. i've always held the unpopular opinion that the orb is primarily a reflection of whom happens to be in the camp at the time. i have high hopes as i am a huge cauty fan so we shall see once i get a listen. but please, all snide comments aside, how about it? want to share? lysergic
