Also we think of England and Scotland as being "Great Britain."
The British Isles contains the UK and Ireland (Eire) plus some weird bits like Rockall, Channel Islands, the Isle of Man etc. The UK is the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland Britain is England, Scotland and Wales. Isle of Wight, no r, and that's just part of england... or do you mean we need to worry about, say, Anglesey too? (I don't often worry about Anglesey, it has to be said, apart from perhaps "hmm, it's been a long time since I had a pint in Ye Old Bull's Head in Beaumaris").
