Re: [Orb] Reformat
Yeah, i also love the the 01, 02, 03 songs Trash put on his KDX. I wont use em to share. They are pretty comfy on a cd now. I like the organic feel to the songs. Arv

Well. That was no fun. I put in Dead Cities to rip so I could listen at work. After a few seconds the computer froze, the sound card shut down (that's never happened before), and after a minute or two I hit reboot. Long story short, I had to do a complete reformat. Though I've backed up my e-mail I can't get it to work. I also can't get my address book to work.
PLEASE PITY ME YOU FUCKING BASTARDS!!!
Anyway, Kris, I love the new stuff. The Track 01,02, & 03 just sound unfinished, y'know? But promise I won't mess with them til you say go.
And I don't do P2P services because with my little HD it's not worth it for the other people. Even if I did I wouldn't put an incomplete collaboration up.
Here's a question I've been meaning to ask: On the first couple of records, is the main synth engine a Proteus? I've been thinking about getting one of the Orbit units because I LOVE their sounds.
ok, bye!

Please don't ask questions like this (if you want to find out don't ask me look on the web or ask alex or zippy) There were many many synths used .. I personally hate the proteus I much prefer 'proper' analog synths In fact digital is dead! That digi sound is bloody boring That's whats lacking from track01.02 etc... They are digi... Like for example all those early orb records Were done on analog live mixing style And they have much more of a life to them sonically Compared to track01 etc.. Mind track01 was done mostly inside a g4 It was mixed on a digital mixer too Therefore hindering the ability to inject 'live mixing life' Yeah im off to switch to analog .... Hey im making a search page at the moment if anybody fancies having a look Check it on www.juatablip.co.uk/search/search.htm Im learning off fravia! ;-) Kris ------------------------------------------------------- kdx: justablip.dyndns.org ( www.haxial.com ) mail: thrash@btclick.com

A friend of mine gave me a CD called "RELAX" which was given away with a magazine called "Eve". It has an Orb track on it called "Hamster Munchkins" which is basically Hamlet Of Kings although slightly different. Does anyone know if this has turned up anywhere else? This track has also been called "4 horseman" on the Voyage Into Paradise CD. Phil

It's the same version as the one on the Randall & Hopkirk: Deceased soundtrack, albeit the version on Relax is significantly "noisier". I don't know if it was dirtied up by the Orb, or if it was just taken from a crappy source.

*That* I didn't know; I'll have to check it out. Chris np: Possum Dixon - Possum Dixon

Having checked it out, the track The Rob - 4 Horseman, from DRAP's Voyage Into Paradise is in fact Hamlet Of Kings. It's structurally very similar to the album version with both ends chopped off, but mixed a bit differently, with bunches of new samples and effects thrown in. I like it better than the album version. Chris

Oh thanks for that, I never got round to getting the Randall & Hopkirk CD. I dont know why the sound quality on the Eve CD is so bad, it sounds like the clicking and other noises you get with a failed CD burn?
