.....Promise I'll get off this stuff after this, but did you hear our leader today "This War is for Peace. World Peace". His script writers have to be reading "1984"? Actually, his opponents in the last election were equally as bad. Why is it that the only people we have to vote for are Politicians? Anyway...enough....it's Friday night, spirits are high.....so back to Unreality: A MAGIC ORB MOMENT: To become a long-term member of this list, my belief is that you must have had at least one profound "Orb experience", or distinctive memory. Something that affected you or that you really enjoyed. How about sharing your experiences, be specific with orb track and help spread some Peace (with fluffy clouds) into the World. Last year we heard from a young lady camper (in Canadian mountains) who watched shooting stars (all night) the first time she heard UForb, another guy whose first live orb experience took him as high as a kite with strangers, and some other great stories (I can't quite remember!). I bet even Thrash (with his distain for the past) has a good Orb yarn to spin. How about that mixing mistake that created an epic track, or what your Mum said when she found out you were a real rock star, or maybe your first groupie? cheers bill (bbroo)
The orb were one big mixing mistake... Hehehe As for my mother She never went for the rock star thing She just advises me to give up Cos im past it And so does dad.. Didn't have any groupie experiences I nearly shagged a girl dressed a bloke with a moustache once In phoenix Arizona Lovely place... Funny feeling the moustache on your face when youre kissing.. Still stands out that memory after all these years Ahhhhh the good old days... :)) -----Original Message----- From: orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Bbbrooo@aol.com Sent: 12 April 2003 05:36 To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Orb] A Magic Orb Moment .....Promise I'll get off this stuff after this, but did you hear our leader today "This War is for Peace. A MAGIC ORB MOMENT:
In the summer of 1995 I used to go into the office on Sundays trying to teach myself Unix programming. I had a Sun SPARC5 with a port of the original Doom 3d game, but they hadn't ported the copyrighted soundtrack, so I rigged up my discman to some external Wharfedale Diamond speakers to provide my own soundtrack. Sitting in front of the screen I was perfectly in the sweet spot and put on Orbus Terrarum. I'm stuck in a completely deserted office, and I've got the difficulty level all the way down to "Don't Hurt Me!" so I'm really just exploring the landscape (hardly any shooting to disturb the flow). Without the original busy midi soundtrack, and omitting the shoot all the monsters tedium, I had this total immersion feeling, like I'm really in the landscape exploring, and really in the music. Like I'd never understood the language of that album before, and suddenly it was speaking to me. -- Created on Chris's Powerbook
