Hi Chris...
I am still new here and taking this all in, but would be the correct way, assuming for the moment that this is not the correct way? I would hate that my honesty worked against me.
As a lurker/occasional poster myself and one who also as a collector via FTP, I viewed your interestingly worded request with some interest. Given the reaction of those who have the facility to hold large archives of rare material in the past I was waiting for a variety of comments. If we are all honest, the facility to be able to download free of charge tracks and collaborations is a very appealing one. I for one have built up a large and interesting selection of tracks from a variety of online sources. My standard issue Orb CD collection is pretty much complete and when and where money allows, I try and purchase the harder to get material from various shops etc etc... However, I welcome these valuable FTP locations which allow me to get the harder to get collaboration tracks. The bottom line is that we are all here as a result of the excellent music... Finally, isn't it about time that a FTP FAQ was issued on the list every now and again? Interested parties who kindly supply the chance for us all to download material could advise the person in charge of posting the FTP FAQ of any rules pertaining to their particular sites. I for one would be happy to post the message say once every month Wadda ya all think? Cheers Pete --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Okay...it would seem i have gotten a few feathers to ruffle. Just let me state once and for all, I love the orb and need as much as i can get. I have been listening to them since around 92, lets see...thats about 10 years...now why do I want to get ahold of ftp sites? Ask your selves the simple question, if some one has music you want, and is willing to share, why not ask them for it? Seems honest to me. As for list etiquette, asking for ftp sites that hold orb music....is orb related and a fair request as many times list members mention that they have tracks on there ftp sites. So that being said, if any of you kind souls with ftp sites out there would like to share please email me off list with your ftp sites and lets enjoy as much music as posable. thank you for your time anthony __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Actually, I was just giving you a hard time. Saying 'What is your FTP address I want to download as much as possible' just cracked me up. God knows I appreciate a good FTP site as much as the next guy... -- ________________________ omz beautamous loaf recordings http://www.hotweird.com/loaf

I don't think there is anything top secret about any of the sites. All listies are welcome on mine, as well as the others. The problem is, speaking for myself here, that I simply don't feel like responding to every request for ftp info. I make occasional announcements regarding my site and it's availability, but only when necessary. A little history for those new around here: There was an effort by list members to create the Orb Audio Archive (OAA). This was to contain all Out Of Print, Rare, Bootleg, etc. material. It was by list members for list members, but it was only online about 6 months or so before becoming MIA. I had fortunately grabbed the entire archive a few weeks before it's demise. After several months of consideration, I decided I would take a stab at hosting it myself. I made considerable effort to organize what was already compiled, and put it up for all to access. At first I was running it on my workstation, but later moved it to a dedicated server. It's been up now for a couple years at least. I don't pay a lot of attention to it. It is often down for days without my knowing it. I often unplug it if my bandwidth is being strangled. And I have often considered simply getting rid of it. But I can't. I love the Orb, although not nearly as much as many of you. So it stays for now.... But, in the spirit of the originators of the OAA, my FTP is All Orb, All The Time. I leave it up to fellow listies to determine what is appropriate content, and promptly remove anything that is uploaded that doesn't belong. So there you have it. *MoonDogg*'s OAA v2.0 in a nutshell.
