Taken from the Orb's myspace site: "the orb moves into another year, another album, another lineup . I have been recording the dream ( MECHTA) in the dreaming cave studios in south london with youth & tim bran. it's a turn back to our old days , we mean it man. more humour & big bass lines ! the album took on new turns when we invited Mr Hillage down & we got a few beautiful guitar parts from him. we have vocals from Juliet Roberts , D'eric walker Andy Caine & Aki Omor . we also have mix's by andy hughes & greg hunter ,clive goddard & david nock. also there's a chance there will be a free covers album by the orb called " orb ups " with the dream. date time 10/ 9 /007. LPO will carry on as a THOMAS & LX project & we are planning new adventures for the orb already !" Sounds good... :-)

yes it is different. not much, but slug dub has a different ending, and I think plateau is slightly different too. Stephen Wright wrote:

OT is my favourite orb album and I would be VERY interested in hearing the subtle differences between GB and USA versions. Does anyone have the US version on soulseek and what exactly are the differences other than (from an earlier post) a different end to slvg dvb? cheers, KL --- Gavin Miller <orbaddict@yahoo.com> wrote:

the us version came in a hard plastic cd case. i remember it having some interesting quote on the disc too... the UK version (the one i own) is in a sort of soft pack--the map seems more like a map--in a thin plastic cover. i've only heard the US version a few times, years ago so I'm not familiar with the audio differences. it was my first favorite orb (quickly replaced by orblivion). ivy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kayle 'KL' Garkut." <garf100@yahoo.com> To: "What were the skies like when you were young?" <orb@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2007 3:25 PM Subject: Re: [Orb] terravm
OT is my favourite orb album and I would be VERY interested in hearing the subtle differences between GB and USA versions. Does anyone have the US version on soulseek and what exactly are the differences other than (from an earlier post) a different end to slvg dvb?
cheers,
KL

Yup. US clocks in at 79:11, UK 77:58 Even longer is the vinyl, at least the US Promo vinyl. that's around 81 minutes I believe. Gavin

Fucking well put - I like PF in its own right but it is for sure the least-played Orb album I have by a couple OOM (orders of magnitude for you non-science etc types)...and OD is definitely a couple OOM below PF!!! T

Let's hope it's an improvement on Okie Dokie which personally for me is the worst Orb album, I think I've played Pomme Fritz more!
