Great idea Joe! I would be happy to contribute some info. ----- Original Message ----- From: Joe Topjian Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 11:08 AM To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Orb] orb live stuff Hello, Way back in the day I had tried creating a list of all known orb live bootlegs / shows. While I got a lot of contributions from this list, updating everything statically and by hand got rather tedious and boring so I eventually dropped it and went on with a normal teenage life. Well, years later I now know about such things as databases and dynamic webpages which make things like this incredibly easy. So Im wondering if anyone would be in favor of starting such a list? I can provide webspace and a domain (orbus.terrarum.net?) along with database and php backend. The list could resemble something along the lines of underworlds list (dirty.org) or bjorks (bjork.com) except that normal people would be able to add shows to the list themselves rather than waiting for an admin to do it. Other features like rating, reviews, or comments could be put in too. Let me know if this sounds like a good idea, if anyone wants to contribute, or comments.. --- Joe Topjian email: joe@portsys.net web: http://terrarum.net/joe _______________________________________________ Orb mailing list Orb@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/orbGet more from the Web. Well, it seems theres a good interest for this project, so I'm going to go ahead and start it this evening. I will be using MySQL and PHP to store and generate the information (sorry, no ASP right now..). I should be able to get that done in a day or two. Besides adding input to the list itself, if anyone wants to contribute you could: - Help design a webpage layout (im better at coding than design.. if anybody wants to give a page design a shot, let me know off list) - Suggestions on what to include (of course the basics like show date, location, setlist, etc will be on.. but if anyone wants to see anything specific, let me know) Thanks for everyones input! --- Joe Topjian email: joe@portsys.net web: http://terrarum.net/joe
