Sound Forge can include info into wave files. Check properties in the >>wave format in the prog, a person can include all sorts if info.
I was curious about how some wav samples I had around had been watermarked actually. Opening up any wav and resaving it to something else strips out any (current) watermark data. I tested this on some Windows sounds (which if you notice, are all watermarked in the Properties). On a side note - sorry Stringer - I have neither P&T or any Daft Punk Mpgs :( ------------------------------------ m a r t  l e p p i k  -  floor115 ------------------------------------ __________________________________________________________________ The NEW Netscape 7.0 browser is now available. Sound Forge can include info into wave files. Check properties in the wave format in the prog, a person can include all sorts if info These are not "watermarks" this is just property info... "watermarks" are http://citeseer.nj.nec.com/546013.html I think what you are referring to is actually emmbeding which is http://citeseer.nj.nec.com/546013.html Nevertheless, all this 'protection' is ineffectuall and can be removed by a variety of methods www.poikosoft.com/removecp.html and http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=5069
hope this helps :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com
that's right- the property info is just a few extra bits at the end of the file, whereas a watermark is encrypted info that is mixed/masked into the music bitstream, like wallpaper, all through the track. It *cannot* be stripped out once it's there, only decoded for play. Watermarking also would degrade sound quality somewhat. --- raddished <raddished@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:

No m8ty, the quality can remain unaffected by placing the "watermark" within the pre / post gap or in the lead in / out. either way works and complies with redbook standards. We have had attempts at spidering / fingerprinting the 'complete' cd but the whole excersise proved pointless as ripping as aposed to copying is normal with audio disks. enjoy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
